Tim ,
Totally agree with you on that one, we used to spend about 2 hours getting ready just to pop down the road for a packet of Rizla, the UK bands always had a more "real" feel to them and it always felt more of a lifestyle than a persona!!
Yak, don't go there!

I used to hold the world record for 'getting ready to go out'. Until, that is, I met the incredibly glamorous Belle, who stole my crown...

Re walking the talk: I know several chaps who
quit jobs and girlfriends just so they could
live closer to Rock City/live the 'rock life'
in Nottingham. I found that quite farcical
myself, enslaving themselves to a club, and
a dingy, average rock club at that. Funnily
enough, the last time I saw Skintrade's Jay
Silkipants was at Rock City. (He mentioned
something about 'the black and whites being
on his tay-hail'.)
What happened to that Manc Andy, Tim?

become a parent never mind having the capability.

Darren - I hear what you're saying re people moving to Rock City just to be nearer a club. Jay moved to Nottingham to form the ultimate band after ST - with no band members lined up!?! I went to the less hip Watford but at least I had a writing partner / frontman in Andy Town.
I ain't heard from Jay or Andi in years but I agree with Lee Ratbag that Andi was a nice bloke but a little unhinged to say the least! That's what split the band - Jay was hard work on his own but add Andi to the mix & it was a nightmare. Still, no hard feelings...
That gig at in Nottingham, I think Ex-Boyfriends played it... the one with the Vamps. We had choppy short black hair ALA Richey Manic & all I remember was a lot of the old Dogsbody / SkinTrade fans wouldn't speak to us because we'd dared cut our hair!?!

member, with The Vamps and co.
I saw Silkidraws after that, though. I think
it was when Manson played there on Antichrist
Superstar tour.
