I pre-ordered it & it only showed up today. I did wonder why there wasn't much talk about it (we did the pre-release thing but...)
Plenty Of Music sounds damn fine, I'd heard a few from the links on this site. It gets a thumbs up from me. It ain't classic Dolls but it's a good solid set of songs & considering they are missing Thunders et al, it's a success.

I thought it was okay, but not anything exceptional. I might need to give it more time to grow on me.

I guess by the lack of responses on this thread that not a lot of people on the board where impressed with this record?
I can honestly say that it was waaaaaaayyyyyy better than I had dared to hope for.
I am one of those people who think the most overrated guy in rock is Johnny Thunders. I loved him in the Dolls and also a lot of his solo stuff, but he was a pretty mediocre guitarplayer, singer and songwriter in my book and if he hadn't been the ultimate junkie I doubt anyone would have cared about him at all.
I do miss his guitarsound a bit, but for the most part I think this record is very cool. They have gotten some great musicians there. It sounds like it was recorded in the 70's. The lyrics and songtitles are all typical NYDolls and in general I think this is a very good record.
It lack 1 or 2 really memorable songs and it will take a lot more spins 'til the album really sticks for me, but the first impression (or first 5 listens) is very good.

Didn't know what to expect, but I was completely underwhelmed. So they influenced people that I grew up listening to. I don't see what the big deal with them is, unfortunately. Rolling Stones are a better listen in my opinion.
Not to say the music is bad, cos it isn't. I don't like Johansen's voice though.

Ok, but then you probably didn't like their first 2 albums either, did you?

You're right, because I've never listened to them.
I listened to this one though, and it didn't do much for me. I doubt it will prompt me to listen to more.
Just my two cents, you understand.

Yeah, sure man... Everyone has their own taste and I'm not worried about that.
I just wanted to know if you thought this one sucked compared to the older ones (which is what most people I have talked to seem to say) or if you just don't like the band in general and now I got my answer:-)

i thought the album killed. yeah sure David looks like he is a 100 now, but at least he's still thin which is more than I can say for some of the other older rockers. Yaffa looks good for his age...
