Hey, places to stay, things to do. I need a little advice.

Hypothetically speaking, if one boy from the east coast was going to, say, be hanging out in LA for an extended weekend, where would you suggest he stays [preferable near the strip] and goes [rock n roll wise that is]

All help is appreciated

I've been looking into this myself lately.

A nice little site I found, with info about the main places on the strip is;
http://www.rockandrollroadmap.com/sunset_strip1.html

If you're after cheap accommodation, there's plenty of hotels/motels about in the area. Motel 6 and Super 8 have places in Hollywood, and I'm sure doing a search for 'West Hollywood Hotels' will throw up loads. There's always Erickk's couch! lol

I vote for the couch! There's quite a waiting list, though.

I heard the resident G-netters hang out at the Rainbow and the Key Club (where Sherry(Rocktography) does a lot of show pics).

Damn! Just checked out Sherry's site and saw the Beautiful Creatures pics. Good stuff, wish I'd been there.

Thanks guys (and girl - hi JJ)
I did a search on west hollywood hotels and found a few.
Grafton On Sunset - 8462 Sunset Blvd. Looks pretty nice. Seems to be close to The Key Club and the Rainbow.
Chateau Marmont Hotel - 8221 Sunset Blvd.
"Of all the haunted hotels, the Chateau Marmont has to be the most glamorous." a little farther away then grafton but it sounds right up my alley! plus John Belushi overdosed there, could you ask for anything more.

any opinions on these, good, bad, ugly, run away fast?

I seem to remember that Metal Sludge did a big breakdown of everywhere to see in L.A. not long ago.
Everywhere from places that Guns/Crue and all the bands rehearsed at in the early years, places that are related to music world, all kinds of cool stuff. It's probably in their archive section somewhere.

Thanks for the kind words, Stacey0471!!

As for LA, the places mentioned so far are great. And yep, you can usually find me hanging out on the strip... photographing at Key Club, Roxy, Viper Room, etc. Hangin at The Rainbow. Those are all great rock spots!

As for hotels, before I moved to LA I used to visit and stay at The Ramada on Santa Monica. Its off the strip, but only a few minutes away, and is MUCH cheaper than the hotels on the strip.

Hope that helps! And if ya see me out and about, please say hello!

Thanks Sherry. I will have to check out The Ramada on Santa Monica. Do you know of any dirt cheep hotels/motels in hollywood. while i'm there i want to trash a hotel room like the rock n roll star i never was. ha
right now it looks like the middle of august is when i will be there. hopefully i will run into you. it would be cool to meet people from here there (that doesn't sound right) unless of course you are all just virtual and don't really exist. hmmmm
