Faster Pussycat has arrived....

Got my mits on the new Faster Pussycat Cd yesterday gotta say I'm pretty impressed, think 'Whipped' done in a Marilyn manson sort of way, I'm sure someone will tell me I'm talkin bollox but theres my tuppence worth

I got mine and posted this review at another board. Thought I'd post it here too and see if anyone else has views on the CD


Let me first start up with saying that I am a huge Taime fan. I think he has one of the coolest voices in rock. I'm also a huge Faster Pussycat fan and I like all their albums.
Must admit that I was a bit dissapointed at Whipped when it was first released as I hated the funky thing that was going on at the time. I still hate funk, but Whipped has grown on me a lot and I think the Faster Pussycat records have stood the test of time better than most other stuff that was released at that time.

The first album is a straight and simple blues based rock'n'roll record. The second one is a much more complicated stadion rock record. Whipped continiues this with added influences from metal and funk. Between The Valley Of The Ultra Pussy is a god awful techno remix CD that should only be bought if you have EVERYTHING else and wanna support the boys........ It has it's moments, but those are very few and you would be better off getting a Newlydeads record.

So, what do I think of this new CD?

Hmmmmm.....honestly I'm a bit in two minds about it. Maybe my expectations where to big as I totally fell in love with the Newlydeads stuff as well..... I have no clue.

It definitly has some good songs, but it lacks a few more good tracks.

The best songs by far are Number One With A Bullet, The Power And The Glory Hole, These Boots Are Made For Walking and You Gotta Love It. These songs kick ass and sound like a mix between Faster Pussycat and the Newlydeads.

But then on the other hand you have songs like Porn Star who is basically 1 chord the whole song without a catchy melody and hmmmm..... without pretty much anything to be completely honest.

There is also an extensive tribute to Bianca formerly of Betty Blowtorch called Bye Bye Bianca. This is also just 1 chord the whole song with spoken messages from the members of Faster Pussycat and a lot of Bianca's friends. A very nice guest and you can't diss something like that. You can also feel the energy in some of the statements that is really cool but the lenght of the song (6:39) makes this something you're gonna skip after a few listens.

I have a feeling that this album will grow on me too and in some months it might be that I don't agree with this review at all, but after two days of non stop listening to it this is my view and I promised to post it for you guys.

This album is for you if you like both Faster Pussycat and the Newlydeads.
If you think Faster Pussycat is great and the Newlydeads are a bit too industrial you might also like it.
If you love the first Faster Pyssycat record, but haven't been able to get into anything they did after that and hate the Newlydeads you will no doubt hate this too.

But give it a chance, people! It's the bands first album in 14 years and we definitly want Taime and the boys to keep releasing CDs, don't we?

Had mine 2 weeks now & gotta say it does just get better & better, I agree with your comments about 'Bye Bye Bianca' & 'Porn Star' but 8 out of the 11 tracks kick major ass the other exception being 'Useless' .Dregens Ace Frehley impression on 'Disintigrate' is astonishing.
