Lightbulb

I have received an e-mail from My friend Chris Eddowes (she's a teacher in the town). She is asking if we are interested in helping to stage the Mystery Plays in Hartlepool perhaps next year. Personally, I think it's a great idea but jusy wanted to start some discussion here.

Here's Chris' e-mail:

Dear Jonathan,
this is a floating bread upon the waters email.
I've been thinking that it would be a great idea if we could do a cycle of
mystery plays in Hartlepool like the medieval guilds did in various towns in
the middle ages. Based on the stories in the Bible from creation to last
judgement, various groups did them in a series. They did them on wagons
(pageants) but we might have to do them in various places and get the
audience to move.
Sorry if you know all this but I've learnt not everybody did a degree in
English!
Nothing's past the idea stage yet- and in my head, but it struck me that
your group might be interested in doing one or more of the plays. If we
could divi them up it shouldn't be too much for any one group of people.
Would you like to float the idea with your group and let me know if there is
any interest?
Chris

Hi Jonny

I think this would be an excellent idea, in particular moving the group forward to potientially covering work that would attract a larger audience ie schools and colleges.

I guess if others in the group are of the same opinion let's hear your views and then at least we can gage if there are enough of us to offer support.

Definately something to work on after Haloween. Any Chance this chris could attend future meeting or the board to develop this as idea?

Definately intrigued by the idea of a collection of stories for Hartlepool. Ongoing Development for a festival or event? Would that mean co-operation with other groups?

Good idea Don about inviting Chris to talk about the Mystery PLays. Might spark us into action. I will arrange this after the Halloween is out of the way - don't let me forget
