As per machinerys task for us to all create a short story (as he did in alphabetical encounters), perhaps that would be a good idea.
You can reply to this by the poll, or creating an actual reply.
It's a new idea of "assignments"
(Rob and myself have tried this in the past with mixed results - so please let us know upfront if uninterested)

you know i'm with you chris. i absolutely love the idea. as writers, we need to strive to be better. and to do so, we need to work. grand idea. some of the best work comes when its forced. maybe forced is a bad word, but you get what i'm saying...

here is a site for fiction exercises. i'm not sure if you people are more into poetry or actually writing stories. I, myself, have been writing poetry for what seems years....and not only do i want to be published in poetry, but also in fiction. as you have seen, i've posted some of my attempts at short stories. i only have 3 under my belt, but i plan on having more.
this is the site: http://www.du.edu/~bkiteley/exercises.html
it has a variety of exercises for fiction writers. if any of these sound cool or worth a try for you, let me know. but as for now, i'll keep it with poetry.
but i think we should stretch our capabilities as much as possible.
