I watch
with indifference.
Your cheeks
glisten
in the moonlight
that filters through
the blinds...
pathetic excuse
for illumination
that only mocks
your eyes.
They probe my face,
hope to find
their pain
reciprocated
in tears of my own.
They recoil
when met
with an apathetic
drought,
my eyes incapable
of lying
to appease you.

This was written for a contest. I was given the title and had to go from there. I'm not a huge fan of the title...but the poem is growing on me. Feedback on either is greatly appreciated.
