your soft voice stirs
me from serene slumber
as the Sunday sun
shines through the shades:
?morning mass soon son?
stained glass windows of saints
spectacular in their spectacle
as is the masonry surrounding
and secluding us in pews:
?set free your suspires of sin?
songsters serenade in psalms;
the priest situates the book
to the sky as he saunters
towards the altar in stolidity:
?no satiety in our savior?
a sequence of candles shine
and slither under the depiction
of sacrifice as the priest?s voice
sends the words of the sermon:
?what he speaks is something sacred?
mass? end leads to salutations
and send-offs amongst the congregation.
stepping outside, the soft winds
whirl about the spire of the steeple:
?a sunny day for our superior to savor?
as we slowly stroll back home
under the shade of swaying
cedars and sycamores, your
eyes no longer stare sternly at me.

Why were the quotes set that way?
Were they like a 'story within a story'?
I really liked this one - had great imagery...
but the end seemed like a sad release.
It was very nice - but I think the first half could be tweaked a bit.
