Mountain top green
Slice of a dream,
I wondered about you there,
sitting up on top of that mountain as a child,
dreamt of how you'd look,
Like the sky I watched unfold before me
the clouds dancing with one another,
forming shapes that resembled my youthfull exuberance.
you took shape in my mind,
just as the clouds of my reality.
Unable to move
perplexed by the view of the shadows upon the ground,
as if imprinting themselves forever
thick, rich, green grass, mottled with tall stale weeds,
absorbing every shadow from every cloud,
making the earth beneath me,
as interesting as the clouds above,
all the while I formed my dreams of you.
Boyish dreams of marriage made upon that sweet top,
A mountain to a boy,
An inconvienence to a man.
A dream of a boy,
of a hopefull reality as a man.
Thoughts of home shook my brain free,
as ideas of an ideal partner faded off into the distance,
taking with them, the clouds,
all in unison they folded off to the horizon,
Dancing and weaving their happy way,
as a boys feet began the tedious journey,
Home for dinner,
from a spot up on a mountain.

This poem reminds me of one of my favorite places, near my cabin in North Carolina. It's on the Blue Ridge Parkway, its called The Lump. It's a big grassy hill sticking out high from the mountain chain, with a panaramic view. One can see forever over the foothills.
I take my telescope up there on cold clear night.
I take my laptop there when I want to be alont to write.

My apologies, sliped my mind in my haste. The rest are too self involved and far too consumed with being "poets" (like some others here) to actually write something of any worth.
By the way Shatzy, cool avatar.
