I was thinking the other day, on my 5 hour drive home from Red Bud (the national motocross), and I thought perhaps the reason replies on our poems are so low, is because some people feel they have nothing to offer a peice. I know sometimes I don't reply because I feel the peice is fine the way it is.. it's not great, it's not horrible, but it's alright, so I say nothing.
Well I was thinking and I thought, rather than just say nothing, perhaps we could employ a point scale...1-10. 10 being one of the best poems you've ever read, 1 being a pathetic horrible peice of poetry that should rather be deleted then allowed to stay on the board!
hehehe.. of course, you could put down whatever point you thought the poem needed, then if you felt like elaborating, you could write why you gave it the points you did...
Just an idea... if you guys like it... feel free to start "pointing" away

i think thats a good idea hanny.
secondly, it may help if the writer
of said poem also posted their
personal idea of what the poem is
rated.
that way.. if the writer thinks the
poem is a 5 and would feel better
at it being an 8 or so, it would
help me to know if the writer is
posting the piece for critisism or
mere observation.

hans, i just don't know about this....i think this is reaching for replies....i think everyone on this board is just a little scared to give the honest truth on a reply...i know i am....if it sucks...why respond...i don't want to be labeled as a lash out....
in order for this board to be good...people need to be open with each other....discussion boards are hard to accomplish....a internet workshop just isn't the same as a real one...
i have often grown tired of this board....i don't post much on here any more...but I am willing to really get into all the poems..if....if I see change with all the others......

ok...i'm one with you guys...
but if we're going to put up with a rating..i'm not sure if everybody else would be honest enough to put the real score...
unless everyone else is prepared to be scaled as 1 just to make sure if we can all accept criticisms in this board...
i used to post here too, but i was worn off by the way people can be passive...
we just need more push and contacts to get this board going...so everyone...do reply if your intend to...plleeaassse...this board is dying..

here is my problem...
i am completely honest about my opinion as
an 'outsider' in the fact that i do not
post writings or anything but mere impulse
to a piece.
in the past, i have given my insight on a few
and felt that the reaction was either absurd
or simply ignored.
i agree with the criticism issue.
however, my feeling goes a bit deeper...
i once thought that this was a board in which
writers post their pieces for the sole purpose
of feedback... regardless of pos./neg.
the problem i saw, some posters just
seemed that this was a board to post their
shit and NOT get feedback...
kinda like a big refridgerator for drawings.
there were many times i posted a review of
something i read and in return, received
smug comments and justifications.
that is, when i said something negative, it
was compensated by sheer stubborness.
here's what i say:
if you don't want your shit replied to,
post it on another board. there are plenty
of other writers boards, on HB or otherwise,
that allow you to just post your stuff.
my intention on coming (and posting) on this
board was based on my presuppositions about
this board: that is was up for criticism.
if you like your poem or writing the way it is,
don't freakin post it. it's merely asking for
complications, at least on my end.
thank you and goodnight
