I get a lot of questions about this too, so here we go...

In the future world of Gundam many modern day ethical questions are still asked regarding artificial modification of the human body. These are also questions you'll have to ask yourself about regarding your characters personality (how they react to it) and how it has affected them.

Coordinators: Coordinators, as mention in the ZAFT: Background Info thread, are people who's genes have been enhanced. They are more adept physically and mentally than the average person, reffered to here as "naturals". Coordinators also poses a stronger immune system than naturals and can only they can pilot certain machines.

Coordinators face one major issue, prejudice. Thanks to that, they are distrusted by many people, especially those in the Terrestrial nations.

NOTE: From this point on, you will need moderator approval to make these modifications.

Extendeds: Extendeds are special soldiers of the EAF, usually in their teens, who have been modified with nano-machines as opposed having it done so genetically. Extendeds are, however, considered hardware, and have few human rights. They can pilot machines you would otherwise have to be a coordinator to operate, which is why the EAF uses them.

Newtypes: (Oh boy...)
Most people cannot be modified to become Newtypes, they are instead born with it. A newtype has advanced psychic power not seen in humans. They can communicate telepathically, sense others feelings, or even predict moves of their opponents. These abilities have been used by some organiztions to control remote lazers called funnels (Zeon and the Federation) or DRAGOONs (ZAFT and ORB).
However, newtypes are also very sensitive to other people, especially to other newtypes, and by hurting others they may also hurt themselves.

Artificial Newtypes: Some factions, such as the Federation, Zeon and the Space Revolutionary army, have tried to create newtypes. These artificial, or "Cyber Newtypes" posses many of the same abilities, but are highly ustable and prone to incredibly painful headaches along with short-term memory loss.

NOTE: Coordinators and Newtypes are NOT the same thing! A coordinator can be a newtype, but please read above and you will see the difference.
