"Wow, he sure was in a hurry." Ben turned to his crew mates and smirked. "I'd bet he trying to impress the new girl." Ben sat in the seat that he had claimed earlier and started the computer to find the news. He was hoping "The Signal", a Freelancer run news show that prided itself in being propaganda-free, was still broadcasting. As far as he was concerned, any news about the war would help them make some sense of things.

Ben scratched his nose and smirked. "I don't know what the hell you're talking about..." He was still typing very quickly when it came up on the screen. "There it is!" The Signal was indeed broadcasting and their images seemed grim.

<font color="violet">" ...here was have a shot broadcast from the Federation McAvery Fleet that we intercepted on its way down to us."</font> The screen showed the huge Colonial Axis fleet from afar, although Ben did not know it, many of the Ships had already left formation. Nevertheless, this fleet was more than imposing. Ben felt his heart sink.

"I think you guys should take a look at this..."

Around the same time mobile suits started pouring from the McAvery Fleet's seven ships. They were out-numbered, but desperate people tend to overcome the odds, or at least so they thought. The teams shot out leaving blue trails of fire behind them and dodging the pink beams that burned toward the same destination and the yellow beams that would surely disintegrate them upon contact. The battle started messy and would continue that way as it dragged on. Because of their attack angle, McAvery sunk two Musies and severely damaged a Musaka, but one of their Clops was sunk shortly afterward.

As the Federation suits violently fought their way into and among the fleet, one unfortunate group of GM IIIs came upon a team of Sturm Diazs. The Sturms were quckly overpowered, but they did not expect the team leader to be a different model. Fredder's Hyaku blazed forward toward them and fired, destroying one of them. the other two fired back, one connected with the enemy's shoulder only to have the beam reflect back at him.

<font color="crimson">"Beam reflective, isn't it nice?"</font> Fredder drew his beam saber and dispatched of another GM. <font color="crimson">"This is more like it, it's been a long time since I fought so many desperate people."</font> He found a certain satisfaction in killing a desperate opponent. Because of his newtype senses he could feel the enemy's emotion, and extinguishing it brought his comfort, or maybe a sort of temporary solice.

"Man, all we seem to be doing today is watching the Federation duke it out with the Zeon." A ZAFT Laurasia-class caught flame and exploded on screen. "All in the family..." As Ben looked at the destruction an interesting thought came to mind, "I can't let them have Freedom..." he mumbled to himself. In truth, he flet like he had overdone it, twice now the battles had gone out of control, and both times, though he wouldn't admit it, he was afraid to use the Gundam's true power. Be he couldn't give it away, not while there were people like this, people who would use it without even thinking...
Ben looked back down at the wrinkled EAF uniform he was still wearing and looked back up. "He's right though Bruce, chances are it's gonna be hard for people like us to get around. We're in ZAFT territory, and if the ones down here get as nasty as the ones up there it's gonna be really hard to escape."
