GENERAL INFORMATION

The Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) is seeking experienced Office Assistant 2?s in the Image & Information Management Section. These are full-time, permanent and full-time, limited duration positions (expected to last approximately 15 months) located in Tigard. Positions may be either day or swing shift.

These positions are represented by the Oregon Public Employees Union (OPEU).

PERS covers 300,000 members and administers retirement, disability, death, health insurance and deferred compensation (457 plan) benefit programs for Oregon public employees, including all state agencies and public school district employees as well as most local government employees in Oregon. PERS mission is to provide the highest quality services so that each member has the opportunity for a successful retirement. This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified people which may be used to fill both permanent and limited duration vacancies as they occur in various sections of the Agency. Positions may be either day or swing shift.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

? Completion of courses or training in office technology; OR
? One year of general clerical experience; OR
? An equivalent combination of training and experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

PURPOSE:
Capture and retrieve documents from microfilm.

MAIN DUTIES:

. Process agency documents by sorting, preparing, and coding documents for microfilming.

. Perform date entry of document information into computer-aided retrieval system.

. Sends film to offsite vendor for processing.

. Track hard copy documents through processing cycle.

. Process microfilm requests from staff throughout the agency.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Smoke free, air-conditioned office environment. Extensive computer use in a production environment requiring repetitive upper-body movement. Requires twisting, reaching, bending, sitting, and keying 6 to 7 hours per day. Longs periods of standing and reaching, walking short distances and sitting down again repeatedly throughout the day. Requires lifting up to 30 pounds. Occasional overtime required. Essential job duties must be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
