    Can HIV tests be wrong?

Talk to your doctor if you have any questions, and see an HIV counselor to discuss what a positive diagnosis might mean for you. Does anyone have a suspicion of HIV?

The HIV antibody response can be detected in as little as two weeks in a small number of people and in over 99.9% of people after 12 weeks. An antibody test after 4 weeks detects 95% of infections. You can do an HIV RNA which determines with high probability your current status.
