But above talent, which I have little of. I mean, I can come up with some ideas and a little script. But it's no way near the level of details, strategic planning and art of using the right words, etc of the writers here. And further than stickman figures I don't come when you're talking about drawing pictures.

And I don't mean the cool animation above!! OK, I confess my best art level does not exceed smileys, like this :-)

So in short, I could all the help I can get ^_^

OK, I kinda have my eyes on an artist I talk about in a reply to a previous post.

That would be very hot. I could allways spar some ideas. But I currently have my hands full with quite a few projects at the moment. Renewer and Garren seem to be interested in futa as well, and there might be others out there...

Does anyone has experience making text balloons and the such, in a comic? OK, besides labeltornoff from Wicked of course

And would you recommend to have the artist do the text balloons as well, because he can balance images and text better?

From what I have read, many graphic artists use 'letterers' to add the text. The artist creates the text and shows the letterer where he/she wants it to go. An artist *can* choose to do the lettering, but often lets someone else do it. You would have to make sure the artist you choose is comfortable with lettering and?more importantly?is good at it.

Thank you very much for your insights. I will discuss this with the artist.

Anyone, any experience with letterers, and what the costs are?

A quick search shows that professional letterers get $20-$50 per page. Minimum wage in the US is $7.25 an hour. It is higher in some states. Comic lettering takes some skill and knowledge of layout, so it is more than a minimum wage job.

How many pages do you plan? How much will the comic sell for?

I suggest you contact some of the board members to see if they are willng to do the work for less or for free. (I know of at least one member who works very cheaply. Although he can't devote full time to the task.)

Good lettering makes a good comic better. Hasty or 'cookie cutter' lettering makes a good comic bad. Even with computer aid, there is a bit of skill required in knowing how to make balloons that don't all look that same or that aren't all in the same place on a page. Ask for samples before deciding. Maybe get a page of the graphic novel and have people submit their concepts for lettering to you. Then decide.

    Dear Label,

again, thank you so much for your insights.

I indeed noticed that it's not a cheap job in the States. In some countries, for example India, it could be less, but the quality I am not sure about. On the other hand, it's more meant as a hobby project, and not something to be published in a comic book. I never stood still much about (cookie cutter) lettering. It looks so natural that it's part in the comic, that it doesn't really stand out to me. But I think that is the hard thing of the art. To be there, to add to the scene, and without being obtrusive.

I think to have about 15 pages with around 120 images. I plan to share the comic with the community for free.

If there are people who want to help out, it's much appreciated.

    Dear garren,

I have chosen Ava+0 to be the artist of my comic. The reason, is that I find his painting-like style suiting my wish for a graphic novel kind of comic.

Actually, it was Priapidion who directed me to this artist (again, thanks so much for it!). Ava+0 made the art for imho an amazing comic of Entropy. On his site Entropy Comix | The Best Competitive Females Comix Site! there are a couple of other sexfight comics, of which I enjoyed Galaxy Jaunt a lot. But it was Tribbings Mass. that stood out for me. The story concept is captivating, and the art suits this story perfectly. It was all such an inspiration, that I was interested in something like it, and made first contact.

So much for the good news. Because it will take a while, before it's my turn. Ava+0 is quite popular, which means a waiting list. Not all that bad, because I have a lot of planning to do for the comic. To me, this is a very challenging proces, because before I came up with a concept and/or script, on which the producers based the rest.
But now, I have to think of all the images and texts to be put in a proper manner.
