Problem with the forum: Message No Thread specified.

    Hi everyone,

I tried searching for XP vs RTO to read their match and when I clicked to open the search results it says:

    Message
No Thread specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator

Are these old posts/stories lost forever?

Hi renewer. There has been an on-again, off-again issue with the search function. The story is still there. Hostboard is aware of the problem as it's been reported to them. It's just a matter of them getting it fixed. Hopefully that will be soon.

    Edit:

    Here's one of the chapters: Forum Sexfight - XP vs. Rub2Own - Chapter 5 (M vs. M)

Hi, Steven. I also get 7 links when I do the search. However, when I click on one of the links, I get this:

"No Thread specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator"

    Dear Steven,

I'm not sure if it would be electronic smog as a separate issue, but I wanted to signal, that under the option find latest posts, the forums spew out those from last year or even older, even when the member is online, and it's visible on the first page that they made a comment just recently. As often as it happens, I've made the conjecture, that's it's not independently and infrequently posting members, rather a fellow glitch.

    FOR STEVEN , our administrator....

I second to XP... Many tries, same message...

    Coincidence ?

Like the tries we did 1-2 weeks ago to write to each other with no success ?
Like the photos of some posts of the sffan4e which are disappeared ?

In a film of James Bond (Goldfinger) there is the following (said by the Goldfinger to James Bond).
About how James Bond appeared close to him :

First time is an occasional (fortuitous) event.
    Second time is a coincidence
Third time is an enemy action...

    Be well !!

Re: Problem with the forum: Message No Thread specified.

    Steven or XP-
The problem is real. I just did a search for The Adventures of Angelica, Private Eye. I was taken to a page that looks a lot like any other list. I got a page with two or three Angelica chapters, along with a bunch of similar threads.

The problem occurs when you click on the link, Adventures of Angelica (or any other link you try to follow/open).

That's when you get the message "no thread specified. if you followed a...link, please notify the administrator."

I am aware that you can find stories via "The Huge List." Angelica, Private Eye is a popular story. But what if you're searching for a thread that's not on the HUGE LIST? Or a thread that's not an actual story. The only recourse you have is the "advanced search." And that simply doesn't work.

    Thanks,
    A. Penman

Re: Problem with the forum: Message No Thread specified.

While I need to look in to this further, my initial thought is to dump the search tables and re-index the entire site. Hostboard does not use the default vBulltin search feature. It was dumped in favor of Sphinx which is faster and more accurate, although you could not tell this by the current results. As previously noted, I do have a developer now and we have added a few new features and fixed a ton of bugs on the back-end. He is currently working on resolving a few more back-end issues, and exploring the ability to implement another new feature which will greatly enhance this and other communities posts/threads. If it is deemed feasible, I'll announce it soon. Once done, we'll get on top of this search issue. I just do not want to jump around in mid programming...
