There was something of a fading, a falling away. Like a sailor lost at sea only to finally feel the touch of sand beneath their impatient grasp. Quivering, quaking lost in the lunatic mind set of your own delusions. This was what one woke up screaming from.

Dreams had come, made her a slumbering princess of sorts. Delicate, a new ingenue seemingly reborn... but not reborn... just... revived.

Seemingly fragile hands wiped the sleep from her eyes, blinking away tears that had dried into crystals and ancient feathers at her cheeks. "Chimera..." a hoarse whisper that posed a question. Smoke-n-mirror eyes bewitching the world once again through silver-fawn lashes. Awakening from a thousand dreams and still she thought of the one that plagued her nights.

Sitting up the willow of a limb that she realized was her own grasped the sheets to her naked chest, a spill of silver and gold like a tapestry of fantasy and fables hiding her worries from the world... her hair her shield for tonight.

No... Chimera did not exist here, nor did Morpheus that had enchanted her with a prodigy name. Pheus.

There then a glimmer. A spark at the corner of her eye. For that moment she seemed childlike and innocent for the smile that brightened her features, but the look in her eyes had bled into the wants and desires of a woman that knew the world as much as those eyes had known the body and spirit of the one guarding her. So patiently.

"This is not the fabled beginning I imagined it would be..."

A whisper... her voice so dry, her throat so sore...as if whispers were smoke and words were ashes.

She moved as if to go towards him. Testing her own will, nudging her spirit to prove that limbs would not defy her. Stonze.

His motion and mere step to the side rather then towards her made her pause. Behind him stood another. Her mirror reflection if the mirror was drowned in darkness.

    A twin... sister.

One with hair of shadows and darkness, the other with hair of spring dew and spider webs.

One with eyes of ice blue... the other eyes of midnight... one pale... one dark.

    Sister Light. Sister Dark.

And Pheus knew...she was not alone.

Sleep was rubbed out of her eyes as she shook her head.

"I could have sworn... there was another behind you."

Quietly, Rain to touch Orchids and Memories based on Dreams could be considered the voice of Pheus. So calm, passive and dreamy the woman seemed as she pulled the blankets towars her body and moved out of the bed.

Stepping behind her guardian, her lover, her other half to find nothing more then a black feather resting on the floor. Perhaps a raven or a crow?

    "Strange."

Soft. Contemplative as the feather was plucked from the floor. "It seems the other has awakened."

In the age of Pheus and the time of her growth, Pheus had come to learn much. The tall tale of Pheus being the daughter of Chance and Christian was nothing more then an overexposed piece of folklore.

Truth be told... Pheus existed because the Crystal Saga and so many other adventures of the group of adventurers had caused ripples in the life threads... and things had changed.

Dreams had become Personified... the Sandman had taken a new form and gender... and of all stranger things... the Dreamer had crawled from the pages of a book and away from the breathy whispers of mother's that told their children bed time stories... to come alive.

And now it seemed that the Soul Reaver herself had been given a life, a form, Death's Mistress personified. The one to Harvest the Souls was no longer a Nightmare but a delicious creation of Darkness.

Concerned eyes turned to Stonze as the young Dreamer turned the feather in her fingers. "If the Phoenix is set free, it will be done... and we all will be brought to life. Christian must not know of this..."

The Dreamer wandered down the halls of the abandoned castle that she had taken up residence in. Now dressed, hair pulled up in a wicked twist and twine of spiderwebs and cream.

There a regretful sigh, she did so loathe entering the world again where she was more fragile, more vulnerable.

"we Must leave this place I believe. What are your thoughts."

She turned then to face Stonze, a solemn lift of brow. Of any she valued his opinion the most.

Perplexed. Yes, the would be the best way to describe Stonze's mood. Not like one could tell from his usual expressionless facade, an enigma given *life* by Patch, within the fashioned realms due to the results of constant tamperings of the Crystal. Created simply to even the odds during the countless battles of those that opposed them, the "cadaverous colossus" perhaps performed his task all too well. Not only did the gargoyle evolve into a sentient being, he also became part of the triad known as Prodigy, along with StyXx and StyLz, the unity allowing him to exist in the material plane, since the destruction of his own realm.

A unique kinship would be formed with another *created* within Crystal realm, that same bond would forge a friendship, eventually transforming into something deeper. Following the conclusion of the saga, Stonze remained a part of the Prodigy triad, until a recent unexpected return to the former guardian's side.

Like his namesake, he remained within a proximity of Pheus, more silent than before, while those eyes of the purest green watched over her with great intensity. Upon hearing her voice, it roused him from his statue like pose, the interior shadows playing off his seven foot 400 lb plus winged form. Slowly kneeing down to one knee, a sigh escaping his massive form, sounding more like dull thunder talon/hands powerful enough to crush a human skull, held an uncanny gentleness, were placed upon Pheus shoulders.

"What was deemed over, now continues. A dark chapter to be written. Caution expressed. Betrayal. Beware."

Standing straight once again, Stonze assumed a position behind Pheus, large dragon like wings, slowly opening then closing against his back. The final gesture would be a slow nod of his head.

If someone had told Pheus the story of Beauty and the Beast she would have believed they had wrote the story about her and Stonze. However, Pheus never saw her faithful gargoyle and companion as a beast. Since his creation he had protected her and perhaps... loved her. The feeling she would not deny could be seen as mutual. Something after all would have had to have kept them as kindred spirits and not as ones to depart each other's side.

Had he not had the opportunity to return to the other two gargoyles to become Prodigy again? It perhaps kept them all sane... for Prodigy of them all seemed the most like Stonze...the most true and faithful to Pheus. Nights that seemed like dreams seemed to prove that.

    "Riddles... as always."

A gentle smile touched the Dreamer's lips as she moved over the gargoyle. He near dwarfed her and yet she felt safe in his company. Soft as feathers was the kiss rested at his lips. She remembered rare evenings when those lips were more flesh then stone. Wondering eyes lifted to his as that memory danced in the depths of twin irises forged of storms and stars that kept their emotion as endearing as velvet.

Her figure trembled, champagne colored skin flushed with a memory as she bit her lip. Suddenly shy. A bow of head and then she was back to business.

"Yes. Well. We should go then. Trouble is not good and darkness within the past is not something that cannot be. There must not be clouds in the crystals."

Gentle whisper. Fragmented images played in her mind. The Phoenix caged, the warrior bound, the dark sister, the dancer and the Tiger on the prowl... and the Three... so strange.

Fingers wrapped and intertwined through those of stone. Strangely comfortable and yet so reassuring.

"Let us go face the demons that the others have unleashed. We must crawl into the belly of the beast and unleash the angels..."

The air was thick with it. The pair traveled by night in the hours where the dawn was but a few moments away from awakening the world. It was better this way... so those that prowled the nights had already retired to plan their next kill. Pheus like the woman child she was and had become was holding the hand of Stonze with an uncertain grip. She of anything was worried.

A light shudder rippled down her shoulders as cemetary grey and silver dust eyes flicked to the skyline in the distance. The feeling a human might compare it to was the sensation of someone walking over their grave... though death eluded the Dreamer.

"This will be a trying event... for us all. Much will change. Things will occur that are not expected."

There a sidelong glance "Maybe it is best that we locate StyXx and StyLz... to awaken Prodigy again. I believe we will need you all."

Soft, barely a breath above a whisper. Pheus had sensed the awakening of another... one devoured in madness and darkness... forged of it... as much as Pheus had been forged of dreams, and Prodigy of creation and unity.

Lips softened into something near resembling a child's pout as she looked longingly upward at Stonze, thinking about all that was to be... all that was to pass.

Perhaps soon enough it would be best to find her sister, the Soul Taker and her companion... if only to strengthen their forces.

They would need all the help they could get.

A look through her lashes to the gargoyle. If only things could be simpler... how would things be then.

She could only sigh and dismiss the thought... ignoring what her heart was saying if only to speak other words.

"Where would we find the other pieces of you?"

"Where would we find the other pieces of you?"

"They are ... Now that is most ... Interesting." The gargoyle of stony gray and arms of four seemed to motion at things that were not there ... To the mortal eye. Tilting his head slightly to the right, those usually emotionless eyes were sporting random colors like from some crazy kaleidoscope.

"Rhydin ... Rhyden ... Districts of Red Lights ...Tainted Champions ... Quote the Raven ... Nevermore. "

?They're always after ?me Lucky Charms!? A favorite for more than four decades, delectable Lucky Charms featured a frosted personality and colored hair.?Lucky the Sea Fox creates the marshmallow shapes ? hearts, moons, stars, clovers, horseshoes, pots of gold, rainbows and red balloons ? with Lilia's rainbow magic. While men love her taste, parents are happy that Lucky Charms is fortified with 12 vitamins and minerals, and is a good source of calcium.?She's magically delicious!"

    -Blink!!-

"There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition,
and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call . . . the Twilight Zone."

    -Blink!!-

"My dear guests, I am Mr. Rourke, you host. Welcome to Fantasy Island!"

    -Blink!!-

"Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the Dreamer woman/child Pheus. Her 5-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before."

    -Blink!!-

"Don't be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed. The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force.?

    .................................................. .........................

"They are ... Now that is most ... Interesting." slowly shaking his head from side to side, the large gargoyle glances down at his companion, with an expression of dire concern ... He speaks at her ... But not to her. He looks through her, but not at her ...

"You were the chosen one. It was said that you would destroy the crystal, stop the daemons, not join them. You were to bring balance to the Realms, not leave them in darkness."

With yet another series of shaking his head, Stonze's eyes were their normal obsidian color once again, as were his unique mannerisms ... Sans the memories of what had transpired mere moments ago ...

"..... What was the question again?"

The madness of his response seemed almost to elude her ... or at least it would appear that way. In fact it rather made sense. Oddly enough she took it as an omen.

Fragments... the gargoyles were at the Red Light District? Such an odd place for them to be. And then the Sea Fox... her "mother" if ever she had one... but who wasn't a mother of blood or of spirit or anything at all.

Tattered speeches about darkness and light...and she was the chosen one? A baffled look and she could only feel guilty. Had she not lived up to her forced expectations? If Pheus had still been a child her eyes would have welled up with tears. Instead a somber twitch of nose as eyes fragmented to deep shadows of dark grey near patches of night themselves. Storm clouds brewing from her own grief of not protecting and doing what was expected.

When Stonze finally came to, she nodded mutely before mustering the words. "Never mind that dearest..." Fingers touched his jaw and she eased up to tip toes to leave a lingering kiss on the line of his jaw. He would need to lower his head if mouths were to touch... her lips as soft as his were hard. Clearing her throat she could only feel that tightness curl in the pit of her stomach. Fear as much as adoration and that desparate despair at the thought of losing him... her one trusted companion besides his other gargoyle companions/brothers/halves.

"I... mm... we should go then, to the Red District then yes?"

Squeezing his hand for reassurance, she dreaded what they might find... or what chapters would fall into their hands for deliverance if it already had delivered note of a creation of Darkness and Fury... the return of a Phoenix... and a Destiny for one little Dreamer all in one preluding nocturne premonition from a gargoyle.
