Fatal prison catfight in Brazil

My Brazilian friend told me of this catfight that happened in Sao Bernardo prison, Campinas, near Sao Paulo, in March of this year. Vivian Carmona, 20, convicted of robbery, started arguing with Patr?cia Cristina Rosaboni, 30, another inmate in the inclusion cell. A fight ensued during which Ms Carmona forced Ms Rosabini to the floor and garroted her with some shoe laces. Attempts to save Ms Rosabini were unsuccessful. Ms Carmona now faces homicide charges. An enquiry is to be held (probably already done by now) and, to my wry amusement, the article added that Ms Carmona's shoelaces were confiscated afterwards!

Are women getting into more catfights than ever before?

Time magazine has an interesting article by Jeffrey Kluger in it's May 1, 2006 issue. It's called "Taming Wild Girls" and appears at pages 54 and 55. The article notes a significant increase in recent years of physical violence between women, particularly among girls in high school. Mr. Kluger cites a survey compiled in 2003 by the Centers for Disease Control which indicated that forty percent of high school age boys who were interviewed said that they had carried a gun or knife or been in at least one physical fight in the previous year. That may not necessarily be surprising, but what was is that twenty- five percent of the girls who were interviewed gave the same answer. If that survey is accurate, it suggests that approximately one out of every four females has been in a catfight before leaving high school.

Another interesting observation in Mr. Kluger's article is that catfights may be more vicious than when a couple of guys duke it out. He quotes one person who has studied the phenomenon of increased violence among schoolgirls as saying that "Principals talk about not only the increased number of girl fights, but also the savagery." One school administrator noted that "We never had to call an ambulance here until girls started fighting."

Why do women seem more inclined in the twenty-first century to settle their disagreements by resorting to violence than they were in the preceding century? Mr. Kluger suggests, probably accurately, that the internet may have a lot to do with that. Women now can engage in protracted verbal combat by exchanging catty, insulting or disparaging emails and instant messages. Cheryl Dellasega, a humanities professor at Penn State University, told Mr. Kluger that feuding females "go back and forth on the computer all night, and the next day they're ready to fight." And speaking of computers, have you noticed the number of women who profess a proficiency in "real life catfighting" on their online profiles? I'm certain that there is a lot more bluster than truth on those profiles, but I wouldn't be surprised to find out that there have been several occasions when two ladies who became aware of one another on the internet because of their common interest in female combat agreed to meet and engage in a real catfight - and then actually did. What do you think?

Re: Interesting Rumor

Have any of you heard anything about an angry confrontation between Ann Coulter and Tina Fey during which Fey challenged Coulter to fight her? Coulter is a conservative radio and television political commentator and Fey does the "Weekend Update" on Saturday Night Live. Fey regularly makes fun of Coulter on the show, quite viciously sometimes, and the women supposedly HATE each other with a passion. What set the confrontation up was a derogatory remark about Coulter's boy friend that Fey supposedly made at a party. It was overheard by Catherine Crier, another television commentator who is a friend of Coulter's. Crier told Coulter. Later, Coulter and Frey showed up at a Christmas party in Manhatten and that is where the confrontation supposedly happened. Coulter came over and supposedly called Fey every nasty name in the book. Fey responded with her own verbal attack. Fey got so mad that she told Coulter that she wanted to fight her right there at the party. Nothing happened though except more name calling. No fight. Oh well. Maybe sometime they will bump into each other whenno one else is around...
-----
A different version of this incident. As the writer indicates, Coulter and Fey got into a heated argument at a Christmas party in New York City. Coulter's friend Crier also got involved in the argument and it was supposedly she and not Coulter who Fey challenged to a fight. Fey claims that Crier backed down. Crier says that she didn't want to fight at the party but was willing to meet Fey later and fight her then. The fight never happened.

Some Urban Legends

Over the years I have heard various rumors about real life catfights that involved celebrities. Most of those rumors turned out to be false, but there are three "urban legends" which seem to make the rounds on the internet that I haven't been able to verify or discount. Perhaps some of you can tell me if these catfights did or didn't happen.

Urban legend #1 claims that Elvis Presley was a catfight fan and would get young actresses to wrestle in private for him. Supposedly Ann-Margret wrestled another woman for the King's pleasure when she and Elvis were filming "Viva Las Vegas."

Urban legend #2 is that Mary Hart and Joan Lunden got into a catfight about 25 years ago in California. Joan supposedly won and is said to have given Mary a bloody nose.

Urban lengend #3 has it that Stefanie Powers and Linda Evans went to the same high school and got into a catfight over a boy. Stefanie supposedly won.

True or false? Any details?

----------

All three of the urban legends are true except that one is only partially true. According to Albert Goldman, who wrote an uncomplimentary biography about Elvis Presley, Elvis enjoyed watching women wrestle and often had the members of his entourage set up private matches for him. According to the August, 2002 issue of Rosie Magazine (the one founded by Rosie O'Donnell), Mary Hart and Joan Lunden "exchanged insults and then punches" at the home of director Bernard Kowalski over 30 years ago. I saw the same article in TV Guide that another member mentioned that confirmed that Stefanie Powers and Linda Evans got into a fight during their high school days. Part of the Elvis urban legend is untrue. Ann Margret never wrestled another woman in front of Elvis.

Coralie Eicholtz kicks ass on Cameron Diaz

Actress Cameron Diaz failed to display any of the "superwoman" fighting ability that she exhibited in the Charlie's Angels movies when she had a run-in with model/actress Coralie Eicholtz at a star- studded party in "Jimmy's" nightclub in Monte Carlo in June of 2005.

Cameron accidentally stepped on Coralie's dress, causing the New Zealand native to trip and fall to the floor, tearing her dress in the process. The enraged Ms. Eicholtz quickly got back on her feet and then landed a right handed punch to the startled Ms. Diaz's face, snapping her head backwards. Other partygoers quickly interceded and prevented any further action, so the Diaz-Eicholtz bout ended up being a one punch affair. Cameron Diaz, who was thirty-two years old at the time, emerged from the altercation with a welt underneath her left eye. Coralie Eicholtz, nine years younger than Ms. Diaz, bragged about her victory to Britain's Dailey Star newspaper, saying that "Cameron looked like a scared rabbit" after she hit her. Coralie gets the decision in this one, albeit a tainted one since it was achieved by employing a sucker punch. No comment from Cameron Diaz as to whether she is looking for a rematch.

Apparently Ms. Eicholtz was not in a "kiss and make up" mood after her TKO victory. She told Britain's Daily Star newspaper: "Cameron looked like a scared rabbit. I wanted to kill her. The perfect way to get her back would be to go after Justin Timberlake [Ms Diaz's current squeeze]. That would really piss her off."

?????????????????????????????????????????????

On December 13, 2003, there was a showdown in Duke Mack's restaurant/bar in Atlantic City, New Jersey between talk show hostess/actress/model Cindy Margolis (who likes to claim that her photos are the most downloaded ones on the internet) and actress Tara Reid. The two blondes got into it after Ms. Reid made disparaging remarks about Cindy's husband (and Tara's former boyfriend), Guy Starkman. Ms. Margolis apparently went bonkers and started the altercation, which sounds like it was a nasty little fight. You can read a blow-by-blow account in the article that appeared in the December 31, 2003 edition of The National Enquirer which we downloaded into the "Celebrity Catfights" folder in the files section.

On the day of their fight, Tara Reid was twenty-eight years old, stood 5'5" tall and tipped the scale at 110 pounds while Cindy Margoils was either thirty-five or thirty-eight years of age (depending upon which published birth date you accept), 5'7" tall and weighed 118 pounds. Based on eyewitness accounts, the difference in age did not prove to be detrimental to Ms. Margoils as she got the better of her younger opponent. Unfortunately, no clips of this female fight are known to exist.

?????????????????????????????????????????????

There was quite a catfight, a two against two affair, outside of London's popular Funky Buddah nightclub in May of 2005. One team was comprised of models Lauren Pope (probably best known for being photographed kissing Prince Harry) and Penny Cheshire. Their opponents were Kat Chadhrourou, employed as a shopgirl, and an unidentified female friend of hers. All of the combatants were in their early twenties. Ms. Pope and Ms. Cheshire were leaving the club with professional footballers (soccer players) Peter Crouch of the Southampton team and Celestine Babayaro, who plays for Newcastle United. As the foursome were in the process of getting into a taxi, Ms. Chadhrourou and her friend approached and told the models that the guys were theirs and that Lauren and Penny should get lost. Instead of doing that, Ms. Pope and Ms. Cheshire defended their turf. Within seconds, a catfight broke out between Lauren and Kat. Penny Cheshire tried to intervene on Ms. Pope's behalf but was immediately jumped by Ms. Chadhrourou's unidentified friend. The women paired off for two separate girl fights with the Pope- Chadhrourou bout the main event. Lauren and Kat wrestled vigorously and pulled hair, both while on their feet and then after they went down to the ground. By the time the club's bouncers arrived to break up the two fights, Ms. Chadhrourou had pulled Lauren Pope's top off. Penny Cheshire suffered the same fate at the hands of her opponent. Most eyewitnesses gave Kat the decision over Ms. Pope while Ms. Chadhrourou's friend got the nod over Ms. Cheshire. To add insult to injury, the two victors left the scene of the fight accompanied by Peter Crouch and Celestine Babayaro.

At least one bystander took some photos of the Pope-Chadhrourou catfight which subsequently appeared in the British tabloid The Sun. We put two of them in the Photos section within the album captioned "Brawling British Blondes."

In August, 1996 Danielle House won the title of Miss Canada International (1996). In October of that year, this Canadian cutie was arrested and charged with assault after she allegedly sucker punched her former boyfriend's new girlfriend in a bar near Memorial University in Newfoundland, Canada. The 5'8" Ms. House was twenty years old at the time. Details of the incident are sketchy, although the descriptions I've read indicate it was a one punch affair. The name of the woman who Danielle punched is unknown to me. As a result of her actions, Ms. House was stripped of her Miss Canada International (1996) crown. Her notoriety earned her a nude pictorial in Playboy magazine's December, 1997 issue. Danielle appears on the cover, wearing boxing gloves.

?????????????????????????????????????????????

A couple of years ago, actress Jaime Pressly recounted a catfight that she got into with a girl she grew up with in North Carolina. Jaime said that the two of them "hated each other since grammar school" and that those ill feelings never dissipated as they grew older. Ms. Pressly eventually moved to California to pursue an acting career, but encountered her old foe on a return trip to North Carolina around 1999. The women ran into each other at a party where Jaime accused her rival of "spreading trash about me." According to Ms. Pressly, the girl responded by hitting her in the face with a beer bottle. In her own words, Jaime then "beat the crap out of her," claiming that she hit the girl so hard that she (Ms. Pressly) broke one knuckle and dislocated another. If you accept Jaime Pressly's account of the fight, she appears to have emerged from it as the clear winner.

?????????????????????????????????????????????

On April 25, 2004, musician/actress Courtney Love got into a fight with musician Kristin King at the home of Ms. Love's former boyfriend, Jim Barber. It seems that Ms. Love went into a rage when she found Ms. King (who supposedly has also dated Mr. Barber) there. It appears that the Love-King bout was an extremely one-sided affair with Ms. King receiving most of the punishment that was dished out. Courtney allegedly slapped Kristin across the mouth, pulled her hair, scratched her and hit her with a liquor bottle. An eyewitness indicated that Ms. Love also tried, apparently without success, to hit her opponent with a flashlight. Ms. King said that she sustained a chipped tooth during the altercation and that Ms. Love dug her nails so deep into her arm that they left a scar. Courtney Love was charged with felony assault. In February, 2005 she pleaded no contest before a Los Angeles court to a reduced misdemeanor assault charge and received three years probation. The 5'9" tall Courtney Love, the widow of the late Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain, was thirty-nine years old when the fight occurred while Kristin King was thirty-two. Ms. Love was the winner by a unanimous decision.

Details on this one are a bit sketchy, but it appears that hotel heiress/socialite Paris Hilton and actress Shannen Doherty got into a catfight at a Los Angeles bar called Deluxe in March of 2003. The reason? Ms. Hilton was apparently getting too friendly with Ms. Doherty's husband at the time, Rick Salomon. The women had a confrontation in the bar during which they exchanged angry words and insults. According to a Hilton rep, Shannen then grabbed poor Paris and punched her. Ms. Hilton, in addition to getting whacked in the face, supposedly received scratches and bruises on her arm. Paris claims that Ms. Doherty challenged her to go outside to finish the fight but that she declined because that would have been "so trashy." Shannen Doherty gets the nod over Paris Hilton in this bout by a unanimous decision.

version 2:

Airhead heiress and pseudo-celebrity Paris Hilton took it on the chin, both literally and figuratively, in the early morning hours on October 4, 2006 at the Hyde nightclub in Los Angeles. Paris was there with her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Stavros Niarchos, when former Miss USA Shanna Lynn Moakler approached her a little after 1:00 a.m. PST, directed a stream at obscenities at the hapless heiress and then nailed her with a well executed roundhouse punch to the jaw. The blow staggered Paris, but to her credit she didn't go down and was moving toward Shanna with the apparent intention of retaliating when Mr. Stavros allegedly intervened and roughed up Ms. Moakler. The incident appears to have been sparked by Shanna's anger that Ms. Hilton had recently been spotted making out with her estranged husband, tattooed Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker, in a New York City nightclub. Paris filed a complaint against Ms. Moakler with the Los Angeles Police Department charging her with assault. Shanna filed an assault complaint against Mr. Niarchos. The LAPD will decide whether to refer the case to the district attorney for further action after it completes its investigation of the incident.

The thirty-one year old Shanna Lynn Moakler (5'8" and 125 pounds) gets the decision over the twenty-five year old Paris Hilton (5'9" and 125 pounds). No word yet if there will be a rematch.

Priceless! I'd never even heard of Shanna until today but already I'm a fan! I'm so tired of Paris and others like her. It's about time someone served her up a dose of reality. Gee, I hope Paris seeks a rematch so Shanna can finish what she atarted before Niarchos could intervene. I think Shanna might whip Paris EASILY.

?????????????????????????????????????????????

Two women renowned in the music world got into an altercation during a performance by singer Joni Mitchell at the Fez nightclub in New York City on November 6, 1995. The combatants were Chrissie Hynde, best known as the lead singer for The Pretenders, and Carly Simon. It appears that Ms. Hynde showed up at the performance in somewhat of an inebriated state and insisted on repeatedly shouting encouragement to Ms. Mitchell. Ms. Simon eventually had enough of this distraction and supposedly told Ms. Hynde to "shut up or I'll beat the (expletive deleted) out of you" or words of similar content. Chrissie took offense, rushed at Carly and grabbed her around the neck. Ms. Hynde succeeded in wrestling Ms. Simon to the floor and then punched her twice before the confrontation was broken up. Joni Mitchell, ever the trooper, continued her performance throughout the fight.

The accounts of the bout indicate that Chrissie Hynde, fourty-four years old when the fight occurred, won a unanimous decision over Carly Simon, who was fifty years of age at the time.

?????????????????????????????????????????????

The girlfriend and ex-girlfriend of former Cleveland Browns quarterback Jeff Garcia went at it on August 21, 2004 in the Tramp nightclub in Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. Garcia had previously dated thirty-two year old Kristen Hine but dumped her for twenty-two year old Playboy magazine Playmate of the Year Carmella DeCesare. Some bad blood had developed between the ladies, who apparently exchanged some telephonic insults and threats prior to the catfight. When Carmella (accompanied by Jeff Garcia) and Kristen ran into each other at the nightclub, the name calling started. Both women had to be restrained and at one point a friend of Ms. Hine threw a drink at Ms. DeCesare. As they were leaving the club, Carmella allegedly grabbed a dance pole and then launched a karate kick which connected with Kristen's head and left her in a disheveled state. This little skirmish resulted in Ms. DeCesare being charged with misdemeanor assault. The case was subsequently tried in Cleveland Municipal Court. Ms. Hine testified that Carmella had kicked her as aforesaid and that the kick had inflicted serious neck injuries. When Carmella took the stand, she denied doing so, stating that she had actually kicked a female acquaintance of Ms. Hine's who had swung at her. Ms. DeCesare was acquitted on January 12, 2005 of the misdemeanor assault charge but was found to have violated a protection order by virtue of which she was fined and placed on probation for one year.

Based on eyewitness accounts, Carmella DeCesare was the clear winner over Kristen Hine in this brief confrontation. Jeff Garcia? He said that he was embarrassed by the whole thing.

?????????????????????????????????????????????

Nicole Lenz (Playboy magazine's Playmate of the month for March, 2000) and actress Bijou Phillips (the daughter of the late singer John Phillips of The Mamas and The Papas) got into a wild brawl at an MTV party in Los Angeles on June 5, 2004. Bijou showed up at the party accompanied by Casey Johnson (the daughter of New York Jets owner Woody Johnson). Casey and Nicole were formerly friends, but bad blood had developed between them which led to an exchange of insults at the party. As things grew heated, Ms. Phillips jumped in on behalf of her friend, punched Ms. Lenz in the face with a closed fist and (according to Nicole) "violently pulled her hair." The women struggled on their feet for a short time before Matthew Perry (one of the stars of the television series Friends) pulled Bijou off Nicole. Ms. Lenz later filed a lawsuit against Ms. Phillips and Ms. Johnson in Los Angeles Superior Court charging them with "slander, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress." Supposedly, Nicole and Bijou have since resolved their differences although Ms. Lenz reportedly still has an ax to grind with Ms. Johnson.

As for the women's vital stats, they are very close. At the time of the fight, Nicole Lenz was twenty-four years old, 5'5" tall and weighed 105 pounds. Bijou Phillips was also twenty-four years old as of that date, stood 5'4" tall and weighed 108 pounds. Eyewitness accounts indicated that Bijou won the catfight by a unanimous decision.

?????????????????????????????????????????????

In November of 1955, actresses Susan Hayward (real name Edythe Marrenner) and Jil Jarmyn (real name Donna Joyce Sellers) got into a much publicized catfight (it even was recounted in the November 14, 1955 edition of Time magazine). Susan, a redhead, was a very prominent actress while Jil (sometimes a blonde, sometimes a brunette) was not nearly as well known. What caused it? A man, of course. The guy in question was grade B actor Don "Red" Barry, who had once been engaged to Ms. Jarmyn. The fight took place in Mr. Barry's bedroom. Jil walked into it and discovered the pajama-clad Ms. Hayward there. Some words were exchanged, then Susan went on the offensive. She struck Ms. Jarmyn with a hair brush, tore some buttons off her blouse and tried to burn her with a lighted cigarette. During the bout, Jil got knocked over a couch and was also pushed into a coffee table. Jil got her licks in, but Ms. Hayward got the decision in this one. Ms. Jarmyn got her revenge by filing an assault and battery complaint against Ms. Hayward, which was eventually dropped.

hello Ted,

I voted "your mother" simply 'cause i always had this strange fantasy of imagining her in fights since i was in early teens if not before.
not that i'd really like see her dead or badly hurted but in fantasy stories i don't mind of anything and in my thoughts i usually don't hold back anything myself. btw, i usually imagine her as the loser in the end.

she's 37yo, quite slim figure, slightly athletic (she does some gym and running).
5'6, about 65 kg. a 36b i guess; smooth long brown hair, sometimes in pony-tail; dark eyes.
french.

Cool

Post a pictute of your mother..if that isn't too weird.

By the way. I bet sex fantasies of mom's fighting girl-friends aren't as infrequent as males might admit.

After all, a sexually attractive mother is the closest target for desire there is, and the Taboo wouldn't be famous if the desire wasn't prevalent.

Besides, women are by nature, competetors. What mother wants to share her male property with another female?

We just don't talk about is.
