After seeing the box office booty this movie has raked in, don't feel bad about letting slip a couple spoilers. SO WARNING!!!!

Depp simply HAS to be in the next movie. Imagine "Star Trek III; The Search For Spock" without finding Nimoy. "Pirates III" is a search for Jack Sparrow, bringing him back from Davey Jone's Locker, so there's no way in Hell the movie's going to be made without at least a cameo appearance by Depp. That Yahoo bite you read was likely misinformation, similar to the J. K. Rowling talk about killing Harry Potter in the last movie. Just a little buzz to keep people guessing for the next couple years while the movie is made!

i agree that depp has to be in the next one. i've
heard that keith richards will make an appearance
(... ...)

i wish i would have saved that article about depp
and his whining towards the third movie. blast.

at any rate, i'm glad you finally saw it, rev
yeah, as i said earlier, i liked it loads...
LOVED it over #1... though i had to cringe at the
obvious quips made during the movie (that i just
KNEW i'd see on a t-shirt eventually).

haha, you were like me though... i was pretty
wrapped up into the movie that by the time i
realized how long it had been playing, the movie
ended with a hang-over.

pretty sweet.

i loved the fortune teller... she was pretty
bad ass... even as an actor, imo. 'course,
i don't know her from adam... so she could
suck for all i care. i liked her character

i can tell you that in addition to the minions...
that final 'face-off' between sparrow and the
cracken was just too effing gay, i just about
threw up right there in the theater. talk about
bad animation.... ugh *shudder* i was almost
embarrassed.

Drove a busload 'o kiddies out to see "Over The Hedge" today. Only now, like a ball-peen hammer, did it hit me how ALL these recent CGI-animated movies have the exact same story-arc.

Main character, often but not always the lead, has issue with 'bad guy', forcing him/her out of obligation to carry-out the evil-deed, until the third reel, when said character turns to the 'bright-side' of the force, and chooses family & friendship, breaking their original deal and turning-upon 'bad-guy'. How very Jewish of them.

Yeah, the exact script has variations, but it remains basically identictal.

Ice Age, Cars, Toy Story, Dinosaur; all follow the same basic storyline. I suppose the Pixar animators have a Mad-Lib formula worked-out for creating different movie treatments.

________ is the main character, he's a ________ living in a world of ________'s. Because of ________ ('bad guy'), feels obliged to mingle with the other _______'s (misfits, 'good guys')for a scam which will ultimately hurt the _______'s (misfits, 'good guys'). With time, he comes to respect/love the _______'s (misfits, 'good guys'), and in the last 10-minutes, thinks of them as "family", and double-crosses the ________ ('bad guy')he originally intended to help, thereby initiating the 'suprise ending' which children oh so love.

PS - LOVED the scenes when the hyperactive Chipmunk drank the Energy Drink, and time stopped on planet Earth, allowing him to dance among the emerging lawn death-beams. That was a Superman moment. Kewl.

Back to PotC 2 for a moment.

The 'fortune teller' (I thought of her as a witch, collector of magical baubles) was played by Naomie Harris had only played in a couple US movies before (one of them was a animated characters voice). I didn't even recognize her from '28 Days Later'! It was probably all that stuff on her teeth, made them look either rotted or made of chrome.

I didn't mind Jack Sparrow's lunge into the Kraken's maw at the end. It was just the cheezy swashbuckling bravado Disney would like.
