Snuck into a 'pre-screening' for basically every grade-schooler in town this morning.

Well, it's cute. I actually did chuckle a couple times, like a scene when Lightning & Toe Mater sneak into a farm pasture at night to go "Tractor tipping".

A hippy VW bus staring at a blinking yellow streetlight. Sounds dumb but it was a cute hint at automotive 'drug use'.

Arnold Schwartzenegger (sp?) was shown briefly as an angry yet sparkly golden Hummer which kinda did look like him!

Luckily, it's still more Pixar, less Disney. So no musical numbers, and lots of little in-jokes to keep adults amused.

Larry The Cable Guy was able to squeeze "Git 'Er Done!" into the script once. The only noticable spot I woulda left on the cutting room floor.

CARS was ok. it's wasn't bad.... but i wouldn't
say it was great. i think it woulda been cooler
if McQueen managed to get the media to bring the/a
race to the country town on the dirt track...
even if it was just some race involving the
oldie race cars). i dunno... the ending was
pretty lame, imo.

incidentally, gonna go see PotC this eve with
my buddies. had to literally buy the friggin
tickets during lunch due to the fact that only
one effing theater in town is showing the movie.

the parking lot was PACKED... even during the
lunch hour showing. i have no doubt that it
will be jammed packed this eve. we literally
plan on being there an hour before the show
just to ensure a good seat.

we are all meeting at a friend's house so that
we can carpool to the theater. i'm in charge
of bringing the chinese!

personally, i thought the first PotC was ok...
certainly not the *blockbuster* everyone makes
it out to be. i didn't see it in the theater
and i don't feel bad about renting the sequel
too.... but since everyone else wants to see
it opening day.... i'm all about it too.

i have no doubt that it will be just as gay
as the first one. *waves pompoms*

hope you are checking it out or something too...
will give my $0.02 when i have the time.

I'm gonna wait a week or two before seeing Pirates.

Only reason I saw CARS early was because they needed extra bus drivers to haul 800 screaming grade-schoolers over to the cineplex at the same time! [img]rolleyes.gif[/img] (side note; I coulda gotten busted for this, but on the way home, pretended to get 'lost', and drove the kids through the worst Crack-infested Bridgeport slums. It was fuckin hilarious! Those screaming brats turned into silent Angels the moment I passed a Hispanic kid puking in the street!!)

CARS had the same 'feel-good' ambiguous-Leftist slant most PIXAR flix have. Pro-Gaia, Pro-tolerance, wink to the fucked-up nature of California-life, and can't we all just get along in the meantime?...

Like said, it was "cute". Not much else.

Fan-bloody-tastic, i tell ya. as good as the first. won't say anything bout it yet, seeing as you folk havent seen it yet..
cant wait till the 3rd.

the friggin theater was packed... even an hour
before the show. had to stand in line outside
the doors just because the management wanted to
keep us in line, i guess. i didn't care... my
group got there early enough to be about the
8th position from the door, so we got cherry seats.

it was like star wars revisited....


with that said, i have to agree with nick...
i won't say much out of respect, but i can
say that i believe i liked it much more than
the first... in storyline, in dialogue, in almost
every aspect OTHER than two -- the minions and
some occasional sloppy animation.

i also can't wait for the 3rd.... [img]wink.gif[/img]
but i hear depp won't be doing a 3rd (despite
his contract guaranteeing 3 movies). i could
be wrong... but i could have sworn thats what
yahoo said a few days ago.

Just got back from seeing Dead Man's Chest couple minutes ago, Fan-bloody-tastic!

Really glad I got to see it in the theatre as even on a large-screen TV, doubt much of the scope would come across. Only difficulty (not really 'complaint', but close enough) is also with the minions. When they came up on the beach to retrieve Davey Jone's chest, in full sunlight, almost expected the Mighty Morphing Power Rangers to jump out for battle!

Also wish I had a hint this WOULDN'T be a complete movie. I was about 2:20 into the movie, realized the story couldn't end in a nice Disney bowtie quite yet, that 'suprise' character from the first movie returns, then it ends. GAH!!! Now we have probably 2-years to wait till finding-out how the story ends!! [img]graemlins/cry.gif[/img]
