don't lie to yourself, you know you love
them. the question is.... why?!

over the past few months (and thanks to a
certain influential guitarist), i've been
delving back into my relationship with
the horrid 'hardcore' rock of the late 80s.

after listening to about a thousand songs
already (and sifting through the lame
memories of such a time)... i've been asking
myself over and over... why in the hell
was GnR so badass????

shit i remember being so turned on to GnR
back in the day... but now when i listen,
i seem to ask myself why i found it so
good. i mean, don't get me wrong, i still
listen to it and think its awesome, but
i can't seem to figure out why.

let's face it... axl rose isn't the best
singer in the world... hell, he's prolly
solid proof that ANYONE can sell a million
records.

was it the music? lyrics? illusion?
ugh... i just can't figure it out.

think it was the combination of long hair and a bandana..

i think axl rose is the most arrogent little fuck ever.. compared to a real singer..

bon scott.. here (god)

axl rose here (knob)

(i love australian movies)

as much as i love the gunners, axl rose can suck my balls..

but true, my copy of appetite for destruction never gathers much dust.
and.. if you haven't played air guitar at some stage in your life to sweet child o' mine.. what right do you have saying you've lived?

they played a huge role in making music what it is today.. and deserve their place in the rock n roll hall of fame.. remember when slash got up on axl's grand piano to belt out the solo in november rain in the clip.. that was awesome.

but to answer youre question.. i dont know.

yanno... i never was a slash fan. something about
him really rubbed me the wrong way... seriously.
talk about arrogance...

maybe he deserved it, maybe he didn't... but i
just couldn't STAND him. lol.

ahhh... november rain... that's one of those
songs that i felt was popular by default. its
been a long time since i've seen the video...
though i do remember it pretty well (i think).
(it was gay as hell!) hahahahahah
i think the best part of that song is at the
end when its really being ripped up. that rules.

as far as appetite is concerned, god i really
dig that album.... of course back then i had
it on cassette! woohoo! but yeah, i think i
played the first 4 songs over and over and over.
sweet child has always been one of my favorites....
if not THE fave.

but as for axl...

hell yeah he's arrogant... and a drunk, violent
bastard... but shit... he's fine as hell

axlsmall

*ahem*

so... i just gotta know....

which was the better version of don't cry?
original? or alternate? (if you can remember)

i think thats such a great song because it has
two perspectives.... just clever

The original man.. the version on use your illusion I..
although ive never been a huge fan of that song..

i just bought the remastered version of The Who's "Who's Next".. and after the album, there's the entire album again, but its all been fucked around with and changed.. and its just gay. for example in behind blue eyes, during the mellow bit at the start there's this constant distoted guitar just doing this little lick thing over and over again.. anyway, originals are better.

back to GnR.. apparently they covered AC/DC's whole lotta rosie, i think it must be rare as hell coz i cant find it anywhere.. if anyone could hook me up with somewhere i could get it..

ps. i wish i could move like axl.

When it comes to "80's Heavy Mental" you can't go wrong with "Bad News"

I think with GnR (English point of view) it was fresh abit like the impact of M&M. Here they were
touted as the ultimate rock band if they lived long enough, stories of the girls, the drugs. Just made everyone want to know more .... I got thier 1st single out of interest and its now worth more than the 50p I payed for it.

GNR was a little different compared to the hair bands of the day like Motley Crue, Def Leopard,Ratt and such. They had more of a harder edge and less girley party shit like Crue and Poisen.More rock n roll, less glam rock n roll I guess is what Im trying to say.

I kinda liked Slash,he amused me,Top hat and all.

Oh,and I loved to sing a long with Axl on KNocking on heavens door.

bob dylan sucks ass.... (ok... that was just cuz
i feel there is a certain heat between dylan and
lou reed, the latter i prefer over the former)

back to gnr....
i also prefer the original version of 'dont cry'....
however, i prefer the sentiment behind the alternate
version. perhaps its my current mood.
i think the original version 'works' better...
the lyrics fit better to the music... but the
alternate version really kicks at the bridge,
much better than the original.

as for axl.... i forgive him for his bad wardrobe
decisions -- spandex shorts and football jerseys
were never my thing. wished he woulda stayed
in the leather hot pants. heh.
