why is it that when you are having some sort of difficulty, there is always someone there to tell you something totally obvious as though it were pertinent information?

for instance, today my dog ran out my front door and wouldn't come back. i followed her around, waiting for her to either come back to me or get herself cornered so i could catch her. while i was walking along calling her, there was an older man standing in his front yard. he said "is that your dog?" i said "yes" (as though i would just follow some random dog down the road calling it a name i just made up) he then said "it's supposed to be on a leash, you know." well thanks for letting me know, asshole, now walking my dog won't be such a chore....

Thats the point of old people, they laugh at young uns and tell us were fuk ups.

I like old people, always have.It probably started when I wa s ateeneager trying to catch fish through the ice.Id vigourously work at it drilling hole after hole looking for the elusive perch, whilst some old codger would sit on his bucket and quietly cathc fish after fish.

I go to a lot of farm auctions and its always fun to sit with an old guy and let him tell you how it was when he started farming 50 years ago.Had one guy tell me all about building railroads and dams.He ran those huge dumptrucks and it was a point of pride to him that he never over revved the engine in his old 1940 something dumptruck, cause sure as shit if you went over a certain rpm the engine would blow,or so he said .

We have/had a comedian here called Harry Enfield who did characters like that. There were the old gits who moaned all the time and for D.L.O'Day there was "Mr.You Don't want to do that" who for your above situation would have offer this advice.

"You don't want to take your dog for a walk like that, you want to take it on a leash."

the only one i can actually remember is there was a kid grieving over his dead fathers grave saying "you're not coming back are you?".. then bana came outta nowhere and said "oh Derrrrr"
