went browsing online for some sort of product
that would (eventually) carry my company
logo -- that i could give to certain clients
as an appreciation gift.

came across koroleva chocolates.

now i'm a bit concerned about putting my
review down here mainly because i know that
if i had a website/product... i'd probably
spend a bit of time every so often researching
the net for any information i could find
from outside sources. with that said,
it would be wrong of me to assume that those
behind koroleva wouldn't come across this
review... but hell... why not?

anyway... i decided to order a sampler pack
of their chocolates in order to, well,
sample their wares, so to speak.

it arrived in good time -- which is a plus.
it arrived well packaged -- which is a plus.

let me just stop there and comment on the
packaging.

the small box of chocolates had been inserted
and folded into a heavy-duty plastic bag.
they placed one of those jelly cooling bag
things into the box with the plastic-wrapped
chocolates... then graciously surrounded
the entire caboodle with those blasted
styrofoam peanuts (i HATE those!!!).

well packaged, indeed.

anyway... so i open the box and was somewhat
surprised at the actual size of each
individual chocolate. small..... i mean,
really small.

ok, i'm not too bent out of shape over the
size. i guess because it would be a good
jesture to have small chocolates blah blah
blah. but i guess i'm just too used to
larger sizes. these chocolates were about
the size of a gumdrop... maybe a tad bit
larger... but still somewhat small.

the overall chocolate quality was nice.
i'm a BIG lindt chocolate fan and i have
yet to find any competitor to lindt...
this includes koroleva.

the chocolates were smooth and strong and
had a slow (but present) melt in my fingertips
(which is good, imo).

the only REAL problem i had with koroleva
(other than the styrofoam peanuts) was
the chocolate flavor combinations.

most of the samples were chocolate shells
with some filling or truffle substance in
the center. unless that filling happened
to be additional chocolate, it wasn't
happening.

the samples i tasted were as follows:

1) coffee dark chocolate truffle with amaretto

2) kiwi creme in dark chocolate

3) raspberry creme in dark chocolate

4) dark chocolate filling in milk chocolate

5) milk chocolate truffle with vanilla seeds

6) white chocolate truffle with orange

i would rank the best in order as follows:

#1 -- dark chocolate filling in milk chocolate

#2 -- white chocolate truffle with orange

and the rest can all go to hell....

i suppose the best "filled" chocolates were
the raspberry creme.... but only if i had
to choose.

the moral of the story, folks, is that if
you want to waste your time trying this
product in an attempt to find something
obscurely fine and pleasurable.... don't
waste your time.

personally, i'll stick with the lindt

I must seriously be missing out on chocolate this side of the ocean.

The 'best' i have is still the good old 80 % pure cacao dark bitter chocolate.

Might not be as sweet but packs a hell of a punch.

yanno, i honestly haven't really tried godiva.
i was given a small box of godiva chocolates
(a 4 pack) many years ago and i don't really
remember much about it -- other than one of the
chocolates was in the shape of a shell.

as for zela and his harsh chocolate...
let me tell ya, sweets, i'm all about the harsh
stuff.

currently i have been working on a lindt excellence
dark chocolate and orange bar that i was given
at easter. its pretty intense... ain't no way
anyone can eat that entire bar in one sitting...
its just too much.

well it doesn't appear as if i'll ever get to
try those guylian chocolates...

while i know they are sold here in the US...
i simply don't have the oomph to try and figure
out where... or how.

though i will admit those shells look pretty cool

ahhhhh well I shall send you some then! I know where to get them as far as godiva..Its the most expensive stuff but oh my its just amazing. They had some artist create a special box that I was lucky enough to get to try and it was almost too pretty to eat!

I'm a dark choc fan myself. I dont care for milk or white just give me the bittersweet stuff..mm!
