Post

i was lurking on some boards and i came
across a thread that, at first, i found
rather interesting... until i got to the
final post.

what i find so utterly fascinating by this
post is it's complete absurdity. i suppose
that had this thread been recent, i would
have gladly hopped up and made a few
contributions to the thread... but unfortunately,
the thread is over 6 months old.

regardless, even in contemplating the post
in my mind at present, i cannot seem to
find a way to justify much of what this
person said. i suppose i can *kind of* see
it on the surface, but once i start to
really consider what he is saying, my head
just starts shaking back and forth as
my brain cannot digest the crap it is reading.

i'm not going to directly link to the thread
because i don't want anyone posting on it
(because i don't want it to linger much
longer)... and secondly, i think that
anyone bored enough can easily find the
thread if they feel like wandering around
hostboard. at any rate, this board will
be deleted eventually just because i feel
honored in giving this guy some much-needed
respect... basically to remove that jargon
from the face of hostboard.

ok... so if you want to read it... i have
kindly hosted it's contents in a txt file
for your enjoyment. it is appropriately
titled.... RHETORIC

it's also safe to say that perhaps dj won't
care to join in on this thread... but that's
ok. it's not like i'm making a big deal
out of it. just some things that i just don't
seem to get.

for example....

Being English I read of the old times when all art was religious and Christ
and God was taken for granted by everybody. Everything was seen through
the glasses of a spirit world and most people were genuinely God fearing.
<font size="4" face="Tempus Sans ITC, Tahoma">all?? everybody?? everything?? most??

how is it possible that "all" art was
religious and yet "everybody" took christ
and god for granted?????

or how about this....

I think the thing I would love to teach people more than anything is to
get out there and invade every area.
{...}
Why are we frightened?
<font size="4" face="Tempus Sans ITC, Tahoma">what is this guy talking about???
is there some christian shortage i don't
know about?? do they not essentially already
"invade every area"???

since when were christians afraid to spread the word???

someone please let me know cuz i'd like to have
something to tell the next batch of missionaries
that happen to "invade" my door

Fisrt, if "at every turn" I came "face to face with the reality of the spirit world" I would start carying a torch an a pitchfork around so I could burn the propaganda, and then start angry mobs to catch the morons putting it up.
Maybe I'm crazy, but If all art was religious, and most people were genuinely God fearing, that would sorta imply that everyone had only one thing on their mind. Wouldnt't it?
"to get out there and invade every area." too late, you folks already have. Many, many years ago. During the roman empire, the crusades, european imperialism, etc. Good job paying attention in history class, moron.
"Why are we frightened?" Because your entire life is dedicated to a single idea from a book that has been interpreted hundreds of times in the past two thousand years?

<font size="4" face="Tempus Sans ITC, Tahoma">This pisses me off more than anything...I have my own beliefs and I let others have theirs...I don't press mine on them, and I don't want them pressing theirs on me...but when I come out to my car and I find some damn propaganda from some New Age fucking church or even the traditional ones...it makes my blood boil...most of the time they are cowards about it and don't bother putting their location, if they did...rest assured I'd drive however long I had to so that I could place their little news letter right on their fucking porch...what pisses me off is that 1. I am now forced to do away with their paper that, if I throw it down, I'm littering. 2. I didn't ask for this information, it reminds me of a pop-up or spam e-mail, it's a nuisance and it was forced upon me...problem is I can't ask to be removed from their list. 3. I find that it's a cheap and by cheap I mean slutty way of advertising yourself and for a church, I don't think that's the best approach...

i've read your post a few times, 4h, and i guess
i don't understand what you are saying. words
should always be taken literally initially as
words are all you have to describe something.

anything implied beyond the literal association
of words can only be applied after it's literal
translation... but even so, it's still just
implications.

on a side note, i can understand that you can
understand what this person is saying... my
only point was... why agree with it?

Or did you mean "See if he makes sense out of this bullshit i just typed."?

And no, i don't agree with what the guy says, but i can 'feel' into his point of view.
