i will be attending my friend's birthday
party. this party is actually two birthday
parties wrapped in one (the other birthday
person is a friend of my friend).
sounds ok... so far... but there are a few
'issues' about the party:
1) it is a LARGE party... like, many many
people i do not know. a few people i DO know
will be there... but from the sounds of it,
we are talking a MAJOR party with a great
deal of people.
2) it is a themed (dress) party... like... vintage 80s
ok... so i have to find a friggin 80s party
dress... to wear in front of a huge group
of other 80s-dressed people i do not know.
see the dilemma?
someone needs to supply some serious dressage
ideas for this girl.
There are a few things that come to my mind when I think of the 80s.
1. Leg warmers. I think they made a come back cos I've seen women wearing them with fancy shoes [img]eek.gif[/img]
2. Fingerless gloves.
3. Tights, especially with long shirts that imitate a dress. Also, 3/4 leggings.
3. off-shoulder shirts.
And, of course, big teased hair. But whatever you do, don't wear shoulder pads!
Yeesh. Sounds like Ivana wants you to dress as Pat Benetar. It's a dress-party, not Halloween.

well, nothing wrong with leg warmers... and its
weird that it was mentioned as it seems that they
are coming back in style (though ever so slowly).
at any rate, it does bring up the fact that i
am unsure as to what "80s" style i should go for.
the birthday girl is pushing 80s prom style...
as i believe she wants everyone to come dressed
formally.
but as it was presented to me, it seems as if
any 80s is acceptible. i mean, this girl is
funny as hell... so i have no doubt that a
cindy lauper look would also be accepted. [img]tongue.gif[/img]
rev, you bring up another element though...
while i'm totally down with a halloween-esque
attire, i'm not sure that i want to go to the
trouble... or expense. i have no idea what we
will be doing at this party so i don't want
to really dress in a cumbersome way.
whatever it is... i may have to end up wearing
nylon socks with stilettos... *gulp*
Oh man I remember this mini dress I had..it had the ruffles on the bottom in a v-shape..poofed sleeves even..oh god I hated the 80s clothes..

i was never keen on the fashion of the time. in
fact, it was very hard NOT to dress in the style.
my sister has always been hip to trendy shit so
she always had 'fashionable' clothing of the time.
poofy sleeves, ridiculously large bows... all that
shit. ugh!
haha... speaking of bows... remember when it was
cool to wear those strips of netting (in bows)
in your hair like madonna?
god... we must have had a bazillion different
colors... especially metallic ones.

remember those).
