i chuckled pretty well. that statement is just
the cutest thing!!! "spiders n' such"... ahahah
darling!

i am SO the same way... *shudder*

and while i just KNOW you didn't ask... i guess
its best to just go ahead and state that this
thread is about a thought experiement i have been
a part of for about 6 months.

it's funny how well our mind commands certain
reactions from us -- reactions that may not have
any true justification (once you think about it)...
but these reactions still exist.

it is quite possible that these reactions are
due to subconscious stimuli that occur once
we cross certain 'markers' in reality.

god, i seriously wish i had the ability to
articulate one effing thing without sounding so
lame.

anyway, thanks to an interesting suggestion from
a friend of mine, i have been working on this
experiment personally to hopefully note not only
the reactions, but also (possibly) the markers
that i am responding to.

i am hoping that with time, i'll be able to
effectively rid myself of all things unnatural
and debilitating in my life -- in one form or another

Whoa, trying to become truly free of yourself (Or at least finding the person you want to be, and becoming so).

Good luck, i notice that my fears are still as strong as ever, rejection, loss, failure.

But then again, maybe i should just start with the small ones. Strange foods, new routes 'n stuff.

It's just a list of the fears that bother me the most in my life. I can get by relatively okay with my fear of big mammalian life forms that want to eat me (I.E. Tigers), but these are just the most generic fears i can find in myself, which i'll probably always keep on having.

But that doesn't mean i'm always afraid, nor that they always win. They are just always present or reachable.

(And you know the cheesy saying ; "The difference between a courageous and a fearful man is being afraid a few minutes longer.")

Sometimes fear is a good thing. Fear can be that little bit of warning that you can't ignore, saying to yourself "Hey, that's stupid, don't do that."
There are other fears that are silly things to be afraid of, new foods, scary movies, etc...
Fearing nothing, and ignoring your natural instincts, may not be a big deal, but it could also decrease your survivability. Example, taking a nice long walk along a dark alley in a ghetto neighborhood... You might be a little afraid, and there's probably a good reason for that. Ignoring your fears and doing it anyway could be bad.

Hmm, can i get one too?

And personally i find fear a poor substitute for actually thinking ahead. Knowing about the ghetto i won't go there. It isn't so much the fear of going to take a walk there, but the fear that something might happen, which is a tricksy one, as that fear will always go off when something could happen, even though it would not have to. Sort of debilitating.
