ok...there is no television in my house. instead, the rental movies are the only thing that keeps me in touch with the creative side of humanity...*ugh* since i have been on (what seems to be) a tim burton kick...i've decided to post some thoughts on movies that i have/will have seen.
as you can tell already, this weeks movie rentals (so far) were edward scissorhands and the (newer) planet of the apes.
i think that anyone here should post their ideas on the subject as well as let me know what movies they like and dislike. (and a nice big WHY? would be great)

I strongly recommend the movie "Rad!".
Its a bit older, but is an excellent choice. The acting is superb, the storyline is totally unpredictable and the scenes are intense.
And if you have no television, how do you see the movies being played?

simple...my dearest tastingood.
television no longer means 'the device one uses to transmit visual images'...
it simply means the act of viewing those particular images broadcast through a network of companies...
i have a television.
i do not have television.
the difference lies in the A.
(and you never mentioned what the movie was about.)

raising arizona is by far the greatest movie of all time. it is funny on so many different levels, i can't even begin to describe it.
pootie tang is my favorite newer release. you will be laughing your ass off within the first ten minutes.
tommy boy, waterboy, and cabin boy are the best movies with the word 'boy' in the title (with the exception of cabin boy, that movie really isn't that good, it was just the only other movie with 'boy' in the title that i could think of).
the severed arm is great is you want a scare. unfortunately, it is very difficult to find. i do have a bootleg copy and will make anyone interested their own for the low price of $9.95 plus $4.95 shipping and handling.

yeehaww! I could talk on this topic for the rest of my natural life!
MY favourite film is Terrence Malick's THE THIN RED LINE. anachronistic existential philosophy in a WWII war movie. Tres bien!
I like the Three colours trillogy, my favourite is RED.
I love the Coen Brothers who've made films such as Raising Arizona, Miller's Crossing, Fargo, The Big Lebowski, Barton Fink (haven't seen) and O Brother Where Art Thou, of the ones I have seen, my favourite is Miller's Crossing. It created my lifelong allegiance to Gabriel Byrne.
Anyways, general rule of thumb is that the bigger the budget, the more there is to diss.

SOULFILMS!!!!!!
jeeezus! if i were a guy, i'd think you were freakin' awesome!!!! (and since i am a chicky, i STILL think you're cool...but this just makes it even more cooler!!!)
THIN RED LINE is an awsome movie. and i have felt the same about it as you have described. i have never heard ANY one think of that movie the way you (and i) think of it.
EXCELLENT!
and the colors movie(s) WERE awesome as well. the funny thing is, where i live, you can only rent RED...
every damn movie rental place has RED.
i have seen BLUE offered ONCE...but i can't remember where that was.
(and WHITE is nowhere to be found).
so, whenever i talk about those movies, i can never get all of them to show my friends.
that sucks.
evidently RED is the best...shit. its the only one offered everywhere.
