I am in over my head

In two of the classes I am taking I have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. I hear words coming out of their mouths but I only understand about every 5th or 6th word. Do you think it is bad to be this lost on the first day?

Could just be that your teaches are used to speaking of familiar matter, and just figure that since your taking those courses you too should be well prepared. Some teachers forget to realize what "teach" means and expect students to just "pick up" as they go... which is pretty lame, but if you stick through it, I think you'll get it, your a bright kid..

i just think you have been stressed alot recently...with your back and all. maybe what you need is a nice massage.
as for your inability to hear and understand anything...my diagnosis is that there is a problem with your ears.
i've got the perfect perscription for that.

(of course, on the serious side, i think that it takes time to get the feel for any particular professor.)
