Soulfilms is probably huddled up in a corner of her bedroom flinching whenever a car drives by.

ok.
here's the deal:
on a cost-benefit scale, military action against n korea would have almost no benefits whilst weighing in a lot on costs. on the other hand, leader of the evil empire, saddam, the costs may be large, but so too are the benefits.
if bush hadn't been so presumptuous and published his axis of evil, he'd be sleeping a lot easier now. n korea previously had no excuse for nuclear weaponry (except for trade embargoes) but now it does because of a real or imagined threat of pre emptive attack from the USA. how do you blame them? why the fuck isn't france an axis of evil when it benefits financially from trade with iraq? Oh! that's right, i forgot! they're westerners! they're democratic! so of course they're right.
frankly, i'm tired of bush and his administration. it's ironic to see that the two most boring candidates for presidency would have caused such a bruhahah in the elections and then the successful candidate plunged the US deeper and deeper into its own grave, all for the sake of trying to provide a hero for the 'free' world.
this has gone decidedly off topic and is not really about the newspaper...but american hypocrisy is nothing new.
safest place in the world? i'd say NEW ZEALAND. australian Prime minister john howard plays an annoying sychophantic game of Simon Says with America. hence, we get threats as well. then howard has the audacity to say that the Bali bombings (in INDONESIA) was directed at australians, therefore we need to take an active part in the 'war against terrorism' and swifty plan for the sending of troops.
