but i feel it necessary to answer ivana just because
topics like this rarely come up here and its
a good chance to let it 'all hang out' before

naturally, IMO, the only reason why i would have
smoked marijuana (or drink alcohol for that matter)
is because i like how it makes me feel.

of course you can't judge such a thing on your
first try because, like cooking, its comes with
age (meaning time, not actual age)or experience.
when i first tried alcohol, i didn't care for
the taste at all. but after you've done the
'shit-faced-because-your-friends-think-its-cool'
routine, you can then vary your levels and
see what is comfortable for you, if you choose.

its like riding a roller coaster (bad analogy)
or driving a car or riding a horse the very
first time: sure its scary, but there are some
things about it that you may enjoy. if you
do not enjoy it the first time, you can either
opt to never do the activity again... or try
it some other time and see how that settles.

fortunately (???) back when i used marijuana,
i didn't have the kind of friends that got
stoned because it was cool... nor were they
the typical media-related junkies. if a person
didn't want to smoke it, it was fine, and they
didn't think differently about that person.
(and IMO, most marijuana users are like this)


since this relates, let me add that when a person
offers you marijuana, its for one of two reasons:

#1 -- they see you as a potential buyer

#2 -- they want to share with you

#1 can easily come from #2 and vice versa, but
mainly it can be divided that way. marijuana
is not expensive -- but its certainly not as
cheap as a candy bar. if you know a person that
uses marijuana often, and they offer you some,
rest assured that they are being generous.
i never shared mine. EVER. to be honest, i hardly
ever had to pay for any... but when i did,
i never shared it, simply because i paid for it
and i was sure to pay for what i know was good.
and i wouldn't share that with just anyone.
not to mention the potential risks involved in
flapping your lips and getting caught.

if the person offering you the weed is someone
you know well and you like them (trust them)
consider it a kind offer... (not that you have
to accept).
if its a person that you don't know really well,
decline, decline, decline. =P

anyways, i know i went on tangent from the
original Q. i'm just saying that i did it because
i enjoyed how it made me feel. and i used it
responsibly (if thats possible, considering
its illegal).

As previously mentioned, it's hard to talk about something you haven't experienced and seeing as how I've never tried marijuana, I will not debate which is better (or worse).

shatzy, your original post is very interesting - you explain things I didn't know about before which is why I'm keeping a close eye on this thread [img]wink.gif[/img]

Anyway, I'd like to add a question, if I may.

What are your reasons or a motivation (call it as you like) for smoking marijuana. This is directed at anyone who's done marijuana or any other drug. Is it just b/c you like the tast or is there more? I've had oportunities to try it but I can't stand the smell of it and I'm not curious enough.

It's not that i don't want to answer, i just didnt see where you were going at that time, and to answer your question, i use some alcohol, because it 'loosens you up' , helps lubricate social situations, basically i tend to drink beer mainly for the social aspect, but hey , it doesn't taste bad either.
