alice cooper -- hero or hypocrite?

today i heard the recent comments towards
musicians and the political trail as spoken
by alice cooper in canada...

part of me applauds cooper for his comments.
i agree that those seeking ideas (within
politics) from musicians are moronic. however,
i'm not sure if cooper's comments are displayed
in a correct light.

though its not in the article linked above,
cooper went on to say that musicians coming
together for larger 'political' venues (such
as the olympics, farm-aid, etc) are highly
motivational and positive.

i agree with that... to some extent. but it
seems to me that beneath the surface, its
hard to distingush a *cause*... and therefore,
one shouldn't rule out a *cause* because it
conflicts with their personal convictions.

i dunno... i agree and disagree with what
he said. i agree with his words... but i am
skeptical of his motives.

I really don't think huge mainstream bands, or any one with a big following really should talk about polotics at all.. for example, my good friend Dean, who is an idiot really.. has no idea. He thought Bush was awesome coz he was bombing the "Camal fuckers" over in Afghanistan (just because he'd heard people he looks up to say it.. Then NOFX release an album against Bush, so now Dean's like George Bush is a fucking wanker, coz thats what his favourite band says.

imagine if Justin Timberlake came out publically saying Bush is a legend, i vote for you all should too. sure he'd lose a few fans, but imagine how many would vote bush. makes me sick.

I have ocassional conservative Republican ideas also, but steer WAY clear of Libertarians giving everyone a gun & saying "fend for yourself". Democrats seem a little too wishy-washy, soft on foriegn policy.

Republicans have a nice bead on foriegn-policy, but they screw-over our working-class too often.

Maybe I'll toss my vote to the breeze again, and vote Nader.... [img]wink.gif[/img]

i like the quote myself. however... i think that
most people that are easily influenced by music
aren't old enough to vote...

and those that are easily influenced by music that
ARE old enough to vote.... prolly just do it as
filler.
