Well, so technically they're living their life because of regret, so they lived with regret. And they will always live with regret because they will regret the time when they did live with regret that caused them to change.

Not because I say it must occur, but it is a process that leads one to the way of life in which they live with regret.
One must regret to know what it is like to live without it.
But, I suppose your argument is valid in that after that point they no longer are in the realm of "regretting".
