    Slight tangent of another thread:

Is the ability to adapt to what is worse often mistaken for progress?

If you choose not to adapt to the world around you because you feel it is not changing for the better and needs to be corrected where does this leave you? Ahead or behind or just out?

it seems impossible for me to think that anyone CAN NOT adapt one way or another. then again, i am not exactly certain the word 'progress' means anything relative to 'better'. to me, 'progress' simply means 'forward change'. i think it all depends on how you see it.
is sending email to get in touch with forgotten friends more 'progressive' than using the phone?
god forbid i sound a bit utilitarian, but i suppose it depends on your needs.

You're right about there being 2 primary definitions of progress (one possitive, one neutral)...wait, there's also the possibility that something can get progressively worse, but in that case progressive itself is still neutral. Where the hell was I going with this and how does it tie into the Dems vs. Repubs thread?

Sounds like Afghanistan. Good or Bad depends on your point of view.

No, because that would be the easy way out, and we'll have none of that.

    Wink

    why not?
    lol
the answer to that would inevitably be that because it would be the hard way out.
And wether hard is good and easy is wrong or vice versa depends on your point of view biggrin
