alright. this thread comes directly from another thread posted in Discuss This. i am posting a thread here because i have a sneaky suspicion that the (possible) responses here may be somewhat different than those (possibly) posted in DT. if you are interested in reading through the entire initial thread, go to: incurable conditions

the quote i am concerned with is as follows:

quote:
But there is no clarity when one is sick with pain, and in pain from sickness. To me, there is no clarity in our human situations, in any facet of them, and this is why we get multiple opinions, to keep from bias and to compare views to see what is real and right.

what do you guys think of this? (not the thread...but the quote)

I disagree with the quote, it is erroneously flawed in it's assumptions.
The reason for multiple opinion is many and varied, but not because of pain or sickness which have been known ot bring clarity to some suffering from either.
As for the "real and right" aspects, subjective moralities can be dispelled by a code of morality, but this is brought into being only in clarity, clarity of thought, action, deed, responce, and all of what follows that.

The only place something can be real and right is in the the mid of an individual whose morality can accept rightness in spite of realness. When what is real is right, there is probably some type of euphoric existential totality happening where the person feels as though they're the center of being.
