POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY: best served as a survey course, or a more in-depth philosopher course?
i mean, if you had 16 weeks to talk about political philosophy, would you rather teach 5 or so different political views of philosophers...or stretch it out and cover several eras???
just wondering.

I'd go for the 5 ones. That way you'd be able to learn the real differences and work with it. That way i'd be able to look at my own philosophy, or at least formulate it instead of just having knowledge of a lot.
i'd go for the deep approach.

i agree. i find it so much more important to associate certain ideas with the appropriate thinker, no matter how long it takes...as opposed to closing the subject with linear materials.

hmmm, i didn't mean the thinker , as much as how that ideology relates to me, and to the others. putting things in perspective should be the most important thing in such a course, followed by making you learn your own ideological ideas and only then the being able to place an ideology with it's creator.
