great relation, SF.
sometimes i find it a personal failure
to be born in a country founded (which
is questionable) and maintained by
such flippiant views.
its a wonder i haven't bought a semi-automatic
weapon yet...
here's something on a tangent:
why is it that humans put so much value
on history?
i'm not talking about a time line, but
moreso, the general conception that
"what has been around forever can't be wrong"
(simply because it has withstood time).
let me rectify that i am also not referring
to any type of architecture (for that,
almost in itself, is the only exception).
i think i'm in a whirlwind here.
i'm linking this sucker to monogamy,
virginity, matrimony and all that other
tight-assed regulatory control.
here is my thought--
i'm tired of the contradictions.
i don't think people reeeeeeeeeeeeeally
put much weight in aged ideas... though
they tend to cling to them (for some reason).
if people reeeeeeeeeally believed that,
we'd still be picking nuts and berries
with the rest of the hominids.
what pisses me off... right now...
is the fact that these 'ancient' ideas
(though often religious in theme) are
what slows and, in some cases, prevents
er..... greater things (for lack of a better term).
gaaaaaaaaaa, i better stop now.
otherwise, this post is gonna be really long.

i agree with the patron in that movies/tv (media) can never give an accurate picture of religion (or anything for that matter), but in america, media is the primary resource of people's understanding of the world. so i think that a lot of people's stance on religion is ignorant. (i am not trying to say that mine isn't)
having said that, i will also add that i think that not only religion, but also everything a person can be is arbitrary. we are all products of the time/culture into which we were born. i cannot be an egyptian priest, and an egyptian priest couldn't post on hostboard under the name george w bush is an asshole.
and for shatzy-
you wrote about sex values/ethics. people dont really care about what is right/moral or wrong/immoral, they care about control (i.e. POWER). the contradictions in peoples belief systems make no difference to them as long as they can control the actions of others (do as i say not as i do).
i think the more important question would be, why do people choose to give control to others?
when it comes to murder or "crimes" i can understand that people do not want to be locked in a cage, but when it comes to sex, why would a girl that had sex before she was married allow other people to make her feel shame? what is it that makes people so damn submissive to the moral indignation of others? what motivates humans more, fear or greed?

i had figured i was going to finish that
previous post, but i just don't feel like it.
i think that anything that could be said
on this (or any subject) boils down to SF's
title...
it's all entirely arbitrary.
i think that she coulda just typed
that into the title... posted a period
in the main post ( . ) and i would
have applauded.

wow. GP's finally got a flammer!
penis morality as you call it hanny, is one of those things which further propogates the stereotyping of a certain kind of male.
