does the amount of emotion (positive or negative)
you place on X necessitate its (X) value?

again, i realize this seems obvious...

but what i want to know more specifically --

you have an option between Y and X...

you dislike Y but are indifferent to X...
there fore you choose X due to the obvious
lack of MORE emotion than Y.

    is this fair? adequate? good?

Theoretically spoken, if they were both equal, in their being and in the way i am emotional to them, i shouldn't be able to make a chance. But in the practical world, no two things are completely the same. Because i observe them, and things like my position, the lighting, my personal preference for right (or left) will probably drive my choice in a case where they are almost the same. And if there is a choice between something i don't like and i do like, i will generally go for the thing i will like, or are indifferent for.
Unless i rationally know that i should take the disliked item.

to simplify.... lets assume we are talking about
    apples: one red, one green.

there are obvious differences, yes. this is true
regardless of variety, but still, its boils down
    to apples.

you are indifferent toward X (granny smith)
and dislike/indifferent toward Y (red delicious).

if its just a casual choice... surely there
is no signifigance in your selection... as they
are both apples with ovbious slight differences,
but both can be utilized for the same effect.

lets up the ante... instead of apples, we are
discussing cats. true, there are obvious differenecs...
even in the layered technicality of distemper/personality...
however, one is black and one is white.

you are indifferent toward X (black)
    and dislike/indifferent toward Y (white)...
but there HAS to be a significance in your
choice, as cats are different than apples...
and your choice will have an effect on both
    parties.

    now what?

    humor and non-humor
