i think that everyone has glanced at a picture
of themselves and had that moment in which
you question if it really is 'you'....
this happened to me recently....
i saw a picture of myself and although its
current, i just don't think that its how i
see myself.
its hard to explain in text... but its like,
i had a perspective-splitting moment that
i justified only as:
1) how others see me
2) how i see myself
i see this image and although there are
slight degrees of 'me' in it, i just don't
think its a picture of how i see myself when
i look into a mirror.
in fact, upon looking at this image, i wondered
if this is how everyone sees me... and i'm
actually seeing someone completely different
when i look at myself.
the only 'decent' justification i could give
myself was a simple one: (analogy)
imagine a free-flowing blob traveling through
environmental space. while there may be some
points in which the blob looks similar,
there is no two points in which the blob
is exactly the same.
the blob itself could question what single
'shape' determines the 'actual look' of the
blob.
while i understand that this analogy may be
spot-on, it doesn't seem to answer the simple
question: why when i look at this image of
'me'... does the person in the image really
seem like some other person.
its a very vacant, personal sensation...
and one i can't fully grasp here.
just thought i'd ramble

I thought about this the other day except I wondered how I'd see myself if someone made a video of me or I saw myself on TV. In all honesty, I'd be a bit hesitant to look at it and see myself exactly how others see my. I guess I like to live in my fantasy world and I'm not sure that's such a bad thing....
