so i've had to spend a few days in a lovely
place that i refer to as 'the hole'... at
any rate, they play the christian radio
station all fucking day. it's a frightening
experience -- to really listen to those
songs.
there was one in particular in which the
lady singing says:
"i'm in love with you, jesus" ... in such
a way that, quite frankly, made me uncomfortable.
sure sure... the whole experience of listening
to that crap all day is uncomfortable...
but the overall feeling of this song gave
me the impression that, to this woman,
she and jesus were about to get it on.
ugh... *shudder*... just thinking about it
right now makes my stomach turn.
hearing this song made me wonder just how
far the xtian cult(ure) feels they can
take this whole god thing. its clearly
obvious by this song that the line is pretty
far left.
i'm almost embarrassed that this song exists.
i honestly cannot think of ANY OTHER GOD-FEARING
CULTURE that would create, establish, and
maintain such thoughts or feelings toward
their figurehead.
i do not recall ever hearing of a religion
in which the faithful subjects are THAT
passionate.....

There is a difference between loving Jesus, and being in love with Jesus.
Loving him as a religious leader/symbol/whatever, loving the teachings, loving others because of what he teaches, etc, are not necissarily bad.
Being in love with a guy that died and turned to dust two thousand or so years ago is... kinda freakishly morbid.
According to the words in the book which has been translated many, many times Jesus was resurrected, and lives again... But, once again, being in love with him... what do they want to do? Go make out with a 2000 year old man? Ewww...
