Maybe we dream, simply because we can.

I believe dreams are the brains way of recapping a day's thoughts and getting them into order..to your waking mind is jumbled and hap-hazard but I guess your brain knows what its doing when it produces the dream..
Ever notice that when your really stressed you have nightmares?..or is this just me?
Dreams are the by-product of the brain rebooting..lol
*ponders this some more*

thats an interesting idea. there is no telling
what subordinate thoughts are sparking somewhere
in your sub-brain while the more prioritized
thoughts are on the up-front.

I find that my most productive thoughts of the day are in the morning while i am laying in bed still partially asleep. Perhaps dreams allow us to think about that which is important without worrying about all the crap that we have to think about in our daily lives.

thats another good point. in thinking about those
times that you described, it DOES seem that all
the bs is cleared away... almost to the point
that your thoughts are meshed with pure emotion...
in which you 'feel' your thoughts moreso than stepping
out and looking at them from an analytical point.
its like you are more in-touch with your thoughts
