On Stockton beach north of Newcastle, Australia, several juvenile Great whites up to 9ft have been caught by fisherman, tagged and released.
The fisherman were initially going for a land based world record and weren't necessarily targeting the Great White's...the fisherman paddle the bait out, only 50 metre's from shore be making a hasty retreat to shore.
Once they've got that shark , they tag it, remove the hook, and wade the shark beyond the breakers, by guiding the shark by it's dorsal fin and side fin...that's the fun bit according to the fisherman, the sharks occasionely try to turn and snap, but thankfully all the sharks have been released un harmed.
