it has now become obvious to me that you have
double standards when it comes to linguistics/semantics.

the 'root' for detonating is the same 'root'
for detonate... which is extonare (latin).

If you had bothered to look up the definition in a dictionary, you would find the following...
To cause to explode. To explode suddenly and violently.
Setting fire to oil dereks as Sadam Hussein ordered, Oil Dereks that weren't even his! Detonation metes all the criteria as laid out in the dictionary.

ok... let's play your semantics game....
<ul type="square">[*] oil doesn't explode[/list]
now.... if you want to ignorantly use the term
detonate/ing for your second ignorant term
usage of 'oil fields'... then go ahead.
but if you want to argue with me on the correct
term/usage for a term... i suggest you pick another
argument. your's is incorrect.

When an oil field is set on fire, it explodes.
It turns out that to extinguish it, you also need to detonate it again.

If Bush is to be bashed by the international community for not acknowledging the Kyoto Treaty, then why wasn't Sadam Hussein equally bashed for intentionally detonating oil fields that belonged to Kuwait during the Desert Storm war in the early 90's.
Sadam Hussein will do the same in another war.
Answer, the environmentalists are a bunch of wallflowers against unfair tyrants.
