This may seem like a strange topic of conversation, but I'm curious: what kind of argue-er are you? When you're angry, do you just blow up, or do you think rationally? When you disagree, do you hold forth opinion, evidence, or both?
I'm the type who can't stand to be wrong, especially when I argue. I use every ounce of logic I possess, do research on what I'm trying to prove, and keep calm and rational, even if I'm angry. I rarely raise my voice, and almost never call names, and I never threaten.
Why? Because to me, it seems a weakness to have to resort to such tactics to get a point across. If the person won't listen to you and you have to threaten or name-call to get them to pay attention, then you are probably wrong, and your point just isn't good enough on its own to merit their attention. I also hate to be angry, because I hate friction in friendships. I have people that I've been friends with for three and four years and still have yet to have a fight with. Disagreements, yes, but fights, no.
So what kind are you? Do you thrive on that friction, or are you a peacekeeper?

The question needs to be further divided into how do you argue amongst friends, families, strangers, lover, and on the phone.
I do in fact get "angry" if I percieve the following is happening. The other person has already made up their mind BEFORE I have offered my position, AND their position AFFECTS ME.
If somebody begins to speak before I made my point OR have I finished my sentence.
However, I do not feel raising your voice to strangers ever makes any sense unless you are being treated as trash or you are being ignored.

I argue differently on the internet than I do in real life. It depends who I'm arguing with really. On the interenet, I can stay rational and peaceful because I have time to actually think about what I'm writing. With my family (mostly brothers) we usually end up flaming eachother. With my friends, we rarely get in fights, but if I do get aggrivated, I do raise my voice on occassion. But that's to be expected. ^_^
