The more familar you become with somebody, the less respect/formality you show them.
If that's you, you've failed the maturity test.

er..?
i'd agree with you on the respect aspect. not on the formality aspect. it's inevitable that the more familiar you get with someone, the less formal you are towards them.
or have i just failed your maturity test?

Ok, I'll grant that you can call it a "slippery slope" in regards to formality, but at some point, formality slippage should level off.
That is the trap.
Once the slippery slope of formality appears, it becomes easy to believe formality will always be more and more lax.
So, in certain respects, it's almost better to keep a high level of formality, perhaps not as much as one first meets another, but perhaps more than most people afford each other once they "get to know each other".

and sometimes...
the more you get to know someone, the more you realise they don't deserve your respect.

We'll call that a sniper potshot. Good concise aim, found your mark, and let it fly.
Your best snipe to date and Shatzy's not here to see it.
hehehehe.

you probably won't believe me. but that was not a potshot.
i realised after i had posted it that it may be construed in such light, but that really wasn't my intention, to take a sly hit on you.
