I think that should give you the story of the american ships I mentioned in a different post.
Feel free to comment...

Yep the doctors, nurses, mortuary staff and undertakers will be thankful of all those extra hours taking care of yet more sick(dead) people I'm sure - the hospital that's threatened with closure might even actually get to stay open.
We have a power station on our doorstep soon to be replaced with another, we are surrounded by chemical plants so i'm sure a bit of toxic waste wont harm us and **** 200 more ppl gain employment so why complain right?????
I'm only half joking ....
Well if you put up a good fight i'm sure they will at least hear u out, god bless america! (sorry alex!)

Do i detect a hint of an undertone in your comments?! No I kinda know where ur coming from, we have had a fight with developers for over 20 years for land around us, they have tried to buy out half the village and some of the poorer residents have taken the bait but we have forced the developers to admit defeat and they have only built on little bits of land around us that doesn't affect us too much. We even managed to help grant a bit of legislation from the government that stops them building on our land till 2011.
All this for government and their figures!
Why not send one ship only at a time and see how it goes? Why can't the ships be made safer before they leave the U.S.?
And of course, drum roll please, why not use the expertise from the UK and pay those people to supervise Americans cleaning up their own mess?
Oh yeah, that would be humbling, and we can't have that.

What's the latest?
To be honest Alex I'm not too sure I've been so wrapped up in my own little world for the last year.
I think it's all still on going. As far as I know the ships are still here but no-one has started work on dismantling them yet - I'll have to check that out. The story pops up in the news occassionally but not as often.
