1 Cor 1:14-16 cracks me up. "I baptised these guys... oh yeah and I baptised that household too, but I can't remember about anyone else."
Paul was human! (well duh!) but so often he is held high as a christian example... but he was just as human as us. Be encouraged.
In 1 Cor 1:22-23 we see similar things now.. people looking for signs and displays of power in different religions, while we, as Paul did, share the message of Christ dying for us.
This whole passage is full of powerful truths of what it is to be Christian - followers of Christ.

What struck me in the first chapter is how often Paul says it is God who has drawn us . . . he called us (vv. 2, 9, 24, 26), chose us (vv. 27, 28), and because of him we are in Christ (v. 30).
