When is the movie better than the book?

The only thing I can think of is when the movie was equal to the book and that was "Hart's War" (about POWs in WWII). But you have to take it as two different stories... the end was totally different in the movie than the book.

I also loved "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" movie...so beautiful...even if it wasn't exactly like the book. I am by no means saying that the movie is better than the books there, though (hard to top those books!)

What movies do you like better than the books?

Forrest Gump was much better then the book! In the book, Forrest is not the naive, mild mannered little guy he is in the movie. Talk about a total face lift! lol

The Lord of the Rings - Tolkien had a good story, but he was too verbose and the story got bogged down in the language (and I'm still not sure what was going on with Tom Bombadil).

I think that a movie that mirrored the book pretty well was The Handmaid's Tale. It wasn't EXACTLY The same but they got it pretty good. Both the book and the movie made me cry buckets...LOL!!!!

I'm one of those people that are very disappointed when I see a movie after reading the book! My imagination seems much greater than what can be done in movies. I loved the Anne of Green Gables books but also loved the movies!

I like the Anne movies, too. I just liked the books better.

I think the Anne of Green Gables movies is another one where you have to take the movies and books as two different stories...at least for the third one. I hear it's radically different from the books. Have you seen them all?
