By now we've all heard of the Life of Faith dolls. But did you know there are other brands of Christian dolls out there? This is the thread to post your links to websites about Christian dolls.

Note: I haven't looked into the mission statements of many of these companies that produce Christian dolls. Some may have beliefs or mission statements that are incorrect.

Here's a list of Christian dolls and their websites that I've found. Some are collectable. Others are obviously for children.

Definitely 9 out of the 11 historical AG dolls. Addy belongs to the African Methodist Episcople church and Josefina is Catholic, but I don't think a speciic denomination is mentioned in the other books, though it's likely that Nellie is Catholic, too.

(Kaya is a Pagan. Kit doesn't celebrate Christmas religiously, so we don't know. Based on the movie, I'll assume Emily is, though it's not really stated directly.)

Kailey, Marisol, Jess, and Nicki are possibilities, though AG doesn't mention religion one way or another in their books, as far as I recall. Lindsey is Jewish.

The Heritage dolls just sell Carpatina stuff repackaged for a higher price. It would make more sense to just buy them from Carpatina.

I really hate the way they dress the brown-skinned Beautiful Girlhood doll in outfits to be an American Indian, a Mexican girl, and the last Hawaiian princess. It disrespects all three cultures by implying that they're all the same and the outfits can be worn by a Generic Brown Doll. However, it looks like the boys' section of that website has all the cool stuff anyway.

Actually, all of the dolls can wear any of the outfits. The white dolls can wear outfits from 1912 or the 1700's or whatnot. And they can wear outfits from any of the European cultures/countries. So I don't think there is any discrimination going on.

I noticed too that the dolls that were Heritage Dolls were originally Carpatina. It's the same with the Jewish Gali Girls (which are really Lotus dolls). They use dolls from other manufacturers to get off the ground. AG did that with Gotz dolls, didn't they?

I can see what you're saying, though. Those dolls are not my favorites, but they are neat. My favorite Christian dolls have to be Precious Moments and LOF.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Tra, I've never seen you say that "Yes, that is discrimination" about people who are not white and/or Christian being oppressed.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">The story goes that a friend or employee of Pleasant Rowland's found a Gotz doll somewhere and they based the AG dolls on that design. That's a little different than repackaging another company's product.

Every picture I've seen of the Life of Faith dolls in more accurate clothing makes their heads look HUGE. I think it's creepy that the Violet character is supposed to be 14-15 but she has the body of an 8-year-old.

If I can get a Life of Faith doll for a reasonable price (I saw a Laylie go for $40, but I didn't have the money at the time) she's going to be a Pagan and I'd sell the outfit she came in.

I will acknowledge discrimination when it is really there.

LOF dolls do look like they have big heads in pictures. I assure you, that is not true in real life.

I thought Pleasant Company bought the rights to the face mold from Gotz. Teethy grins are (or were, at the time) generally not as great of sellers as closed-mouth smiles, so Gotz was willing to sell the mold.
