Of this, I speak from experience. Her cooking is skeery because she doesn't have to cook for herself. It wasn't really until after the sperm donor left that i really had to cook for myself, so i think for a long time, that's all i tried, too.

I gotz a great recipe for Chili Dogs...

steam/boil hotdogs.
Put on a bun.
Go to Wendys, buy a 99c container of Chili.
spoon chili on hot dog, garnish with mustard, or ketcup, or onions and cheese.

Recipes aren't so easy when you are a vegetarian. At least Burger King now does actual veggie burgers. Back in my day when we asked for a veggie whopper, we got a bun with lettuce, cheese, pickles (of course, not for me!), onion, ketchup and mayo...

as for the recipes for my little vegetarians, it's actually easy for me...

been at it for a long time, i think i have a natural propensity for cooking
(kinda like you and crafting) and besides that
we eat a lot of non-American food, so that actually makes it easier.
