I wanted to know why it is not recommended to sew the burlap/3d break-up materials on the BDUs? I have made several hoods and have sewed the items with heavy thread and a machine with no problems. I am making my first suit soon, and wondered what the problem was.

Sewing is fine but the method using netting is a lot quicker you can add fresh native vegatation to the netting and you can more easily modify the burlap to suit particular environments and seasons with netting. A lot of us men can barely sew and have never run or own a sewing machine. The military has switched to the netting method also.
